3 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 2/14/17 numberfire.com Tue 2/14/17 2:11 PM

Tyler Bozak and his linemates -- James Van Riemsdyk and Mitch Marner -- have big upside in what should be a high-paced matchup against the Islanders. Who else should you stack tonight in NHL DFS?

ADDEM: FEW TO CONSIDER primepucks.com Mon 11/21/16 5:22 PM

Have a few names to throw out there... the Steven Stamkos injury has produced opportunities for Valtteri Fillipula to get more minutes on the top power-play unit. Watch him as he can benefit from the Bolts firepower... Sam Gagner hasn't been fantasy relevant in years, but he has been clicking on the surging Columbus power-play. They are bound to slow down, but SG offers decent short-term upside... I guess Tyler Bozak didn't need Phil Kessel as much as originally thought as he is scoring close to a point-per-game clip. Lots of credit goes to rookie Mitch Marner who has been grabbing many of the headlines away from Austen Matthews. Both are worthy fantasy assets...not much on defense standing out but am loving goalie Chad Johnson on a suddenly rising Flames squad. I wasn't as big in Brian Elliott as most were when he signed with the Flames as I felt Johnson could steal some starts. Well the time is now...

ADDEM: HOLIDAY WISH LIST primepucks.com Mon 12/28/15 3:02 PM

Hey folks, our normal ADDEM writeups will continue after the holidays, but here is a quick list of solid waiver-wire targets: GOALIES- Matt Murray, James Reimer DEFENSEMEN- Tyler Myers, FORWARDS- Tyler Bozak, Leo Komarov, Marcus Johansson

ADDEM: GOSTISBEHERE IS HERE! primepucks.com Mon 11/30/15 12:02 PM

Shayne Gotisbehere, Philsdelphia: The 22-year old has begun his NHL career with a few magnificent moments, most notably two overtime power-play winners over the last week. The Union College standout has quite the upside and will have the chance to stick on the top power-play unit while Mark Streit is out. Whether he can hold on to that spot depends on on how well he continues to play. 5 points in 8 games is not shabby so far. Give him a try if you are in need of defense.   Tyler Bozak, Toronto- We just all assumed that the Leaf's pivot would be an inferior fantasy asset after the departure of Phil Kessel but his production of late has proved otherwise. With 9 points over his last ten games, Bozak has been a key cog in Toronto's mild offensive resurgence and should be moving forward. While once considered a possible 70-point candidate, 50-60 is more like it. He could be a worthwhile no.5-6 fantasy forward.   James Reimer, Toronto -While currently shelved with an injury, he has clearly usurped Bernier as the Leafs top goalie. With Babcock having the team moving in the right direction, Reimer could be a huge fantasy piece during the second half of the season. Stash him away on the bench until he gets back in the crease.   Michael Stone, Arizona -Although more of a sleeper at this point, his two assist effort on Saturday gives him 4 points over the last 4 games. The 25-year old was slated to make up much of Keith Yandle's lost production but so far the results have been mixed. Regardless, 9 points in 23 games has him projected for 30+ pts. With any luck and modest development throughout the season, Stone is a definite sleeper for the 40-point mark. Like his upside.    Frans Nielsen, New York- The second line pivot had been dropped in many leagues due to a slow start but he continues to be a staple in the top Islander power play unit. His fantasy value took a major hit with Okposo moving to JT's line, but his power-play potential keeps him on our fantasy radar.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT '15-16: TYLER BOZAK primepucks.com Mon 8/24/15 3:00 PM

The mass shakeup with the Toronto brain trust and the subsequent trading of Phil Kessel has resulted in a major makeover in Maple Leaf land. The team is bound to get worse before it gets better but you can only trust the direction that Brendan Shanahan and new coach Mike Babcock are taking in restoring some legitimacy to the team. In terms of fantasy, this situation resembles an immediate "hot mess" as no Kessel signifies a massive blow to the Leaf offense. Like him or not, the talented winger made his line-mates better. Widely considered the only elite scoring forward on their roster since Mats Sundin, his absence does diminish the fantasy value of the remaining forward corps. Possibly no one more adversely affected than the incumbent top Leaf center Tyler Bozak... The 29-year old has been widely coveted in most fantasy leagues mostly for the fact that he was Kessel's pivot most of the last two seasons. The numbers bear witness as he collected 49 points in 58 games during the '13-14 season. Scoring at almost a PPG clip, Bozak's stock rose to new heights last season as he started the campaign on fire along with Kessel and JVR, picking up 22 points in the first 25 games. However, as Kessel began to slump, Bozak's numbers plummeted as his 27 points over the last 57 games can attest to. Truth be told- Bozak's career highs of 23 goals and 49 points playing along Kessel tells the whole story. You can't count on Bozak to be anything more than a mid-range forward who shouldn't be able to get past the 50-point mark. A big market correction will take place so don't overpay for him. No Kessel, no way. 15-16 PRIMEPUCKS FANTASY FORECAST: 81 GP/ 41 PTS

QUICK FANTASY THOUGHTS: KESSEL TRADE TO PITT primepucks.com Thu 7/2/15 11:13 AM

Let's face it. Phil Kessel represented the only true elite offensive threat on the Maple Leaf roster, so losing him to the Penguins without getting back a comparable talent is a massive blow to their offense. So can we depend on first liners James van Riemsdyk or Tyler Bozak for more than 50-60 point production without the services of Phil the Thrill? Absolutely not. Huge downgrade in fantasy value... As for Kessel, his drop in point production last season was mainly a result of much incurring bad blood with the Leafs organization, so you can expect a much more motivated version in Pittsburgh. At the age of 27, Kessel is still in the smack  of his prime and should see his best years ahead of him.    How about swapping Bozak for either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin as his primary puck feeder on a nightly basis? Yes, his supporting cast will be lights year ahead of the talent he has played with during his Toronto days.    There were many nights where his line was shut down due to the lack of secondary scoring, but that problem won't exist in Pitt as their top six should be the best in the NHL: Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Patrick Hornqvist, David Perron, and Chris Kunitz.    The one guy I would love to own next season in fantasy that could fall a bit under the radar is Hornqvist. With the acquisition of Kessel, the first power play should be downright nasty. The former Nashville Predator is the only viable down low presence so he should be a lock on the top unit. Pending injuries, a career season in the 65-75 point range should be a safe bet.

DAILY PRIME - APRIL 2, 2015: FLYING HIGH IN PITT primepucks.com Wed 4/1/15 10:43 PM

Buffalo stomps Leafs, Ain't that a Schenn and a Silfverberg lining in Anaheim The Buffalo Sabres scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in a game with little relevance at this stage of the season.  4 different goal-scorers for the Sabres, so no big help there in the waning two weeks for fantasy players but Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak have shown signs of life of late and both added 2 assists on the night so keep playing those two especially against weaker opponents…. In the battle of Pennsylvania, it was the Flyers who showed some scoring punch with a 4-1 win over the Penguins. Brayden Schenn was the scoring star with 2 goals giving him 16 on the year.  It has been a bit of a disappointing year for the young forward who we expected to have more of a breakout season.  Perhaps next year….Meanwhile, the Penguins have only scored more than 2 goals in regulation twice in the last 10 games in which they have gone 3-6-1.  Not exactly lighting the world on fire especially with that lineup.... The Anaheim Ducks blasted the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 to claim the Pacific Division title and eighth win in the last ten games. Jakub Silfverberg had a career night with three assists and could be a decent play over the last week while the stars get rested a bit in Anaheim.. Thanks to a 5-1 drubbing of Colorado, the San Jose Sharks are still alive in the playoff hunt. Logan Couture continues to be a strong fantasy option down the stretch with two more points. BTW, what happened to Joe Thornton? Six straight games with no points.

DAILY PRIME - MARCH 29, 2015: SUNDAY FANTASY HEADLINES primepucks.com Sun 3/29/15 7:13 AM

* Superstar Evgeni Malkin returned to the Pittsburgh lineup after missing six games, paying immediate fantasy dividends with two assists. Also back was Patrick Hornqvist, which is great news for his fantasy owners. However, the injury to defenseman Kris Letang after a Shane Doan hit does a take bite out of the Pen's power-play and would have an adverse effect on the team's overall scoring over the last two weeks of the regular season. We will update you with info on Letang's status when we get it.. *To put it mildly, Henrik Lundqvist was rusty upon his return to the Ranger's crease the Boston Bruins beat him four times in the 4-2 win. With the B's really needing the W to stay in the playoff hunt, "King Henrik" was in a tough spot after the long layoff but Cam Talbot will be in net Sunday afternoon against Washington. With his starting days numbered for the rest of this campaign, I would expect a great start from Talbot as he looks to go out with a bang.. *Goalie Devan Dubnyk continues to be the NHL's top fantasy surprise of the year, prevailing once again as the Minnesota Wild down the Los Angeles Kings 4-1. Thats 35 straight starts and counting for the breakout net minder who has registered 26 wins during this prolific stretch. Mikko Koivu collected two goals and an assist, giving him six points over the last five games. Give him serious starting consideration for the upcoming week.. *There was a Toronto revival at least for one night, as Toronto's top line of Tyler Bozak-Phil Kessel-James van Riemsdyk dominated the stat sheet with a combined 10 points. The trio were fantasy duds for much of the season, but maybe, just maybe, this super effort perks them up for the last few games.. *Huge shutout effort by Detroit's Petr Mrazek in the 4-0 win over the Lightning, temporarily delaying their late-season slide but is a change in goal in order for the Wings? With Jimmy Howard struggling mightily, you can expect Mrazek to be starting on Sunday against the Isles. If he wins again, he might be worth starting next week as the Wings should ride the "hot" hand... *Frederik Andersen has taken the Anaheim starting job back from young John Gibson, turning aside 29 saves for his second straight win over tough Eastern conference opponents on the road. Having said that, one bad effort and coach Boudreau can easily turn back to Gibson as his playoff guy, so the Duck's goalie situation is far from settled.. *Tyler Seguin finished with a goal and an assist in the Dallas 4-...

DAILY PRIME - JANUARY 22, 2015: INTO THE BREAK primepucks.com Thu 1/22/15 9:09 AM

The Toronto Maple Leafs came out flat against an Ottawa Senators team that had played a tough match against the New York Rangers the night before.  The Leafs fought back in the third period but Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson showed his All-Star form with 2 goals, including the game-winner. Karlsson proved once again why he is the top-rated defenseman in the NHL. The Senators are fighting for a playoff spot so look for good second halves from the likes of Bobby Ryan, Mike Hoffman, Mika Zibanejad and goalie Craig Anderson. Anderson has rebounded from a poor 2013-2014 and is putting up good metrics despite his record....the Leafs have been struggling on offense of late but with talent like Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak and company you just know that Toronto will break out in a big way soon, so keep them in your lineup or perhaps "buy low" opportunities await.... Pittsburgh was missing Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang in their matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks but managed to play them tough in a 3-2 shootout loss. The pair were injured in the Philly game the night before and with the long All-Star break, perhaps it was wise to be cautious with two of their top talents... Michael Hutchinson blanked the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-0 heading into the break as the Winnipeg Jets continue to solidify a hold on a playoff spot. Hutchinson has put up some impressive numbers in his short stint in the NHL, so look for the Jets to ride Hutchinson for the majority of starts from here on out.  Evander Kane looks like he is picking up steam with his fourth goal in 7 January games, so if you need some goals and he's on the wire, he might be worth the pickup.... Colorado continues to climb their way back into playoff contention with a 3-2 shootout win over a surging Boston Bruin team. Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov is poised for a big second half and speaking of second halves, Jarome Iginla must feel good to score against his former team. Look for Iginla to be a big part of Colorado's climb going forward.... San Jose helped themselves with a 4-2 win over Los Angeles putting a little distance between the two teams. Logan Couture was the main cog for the Sharks and he should be able to consistently score with this lineup. Expect a point-per-game pace from the 25-year old as he has 11 in 10 January games.  He has the talent to be the top dog in terms of scoring so don't be surprised if he raises his game to the next level.
