Tuomo Ruutu found the back of the net for his second straight game. Ruutu went 15 games without a goal to start the season, but he now has three markers in his last five matches. When he can stay healthy, Ruutu is typically good for around 20 goals.

Tuomo Ruutu is starting to heat up. After going scoreless in his first 15 games, Ruutu has two goals in his last four contests. "I've been playing better lately," Ruutu said. "That's something I expect from myself. I wasn't happy with my play early in the season, for whatever reason." It helps that lately he's been getting playing time with Eric Staal. He also might have needed some time to find his groove because he underwent offseason hip surgery and then sustained a knee injury during the preseason. Ruutu's peak value comes in leagues that use hits as a category as he is capable of being a league-leader in that category.

Tuomo Ruutu scored his first goal of the season Monday, but it wasn't enough as the Hurricanes dropped a 4-1 decision to Boston. Sincet it took Ruutu 16 games to net his first goal of the year and his role has changed dramatically from his days as a top six forward, he's no longer worthy of a roster spot in fantasy leagues. Eric Staal and Drayson Bowman picked up on the tally.

Tuomo Ruutu was elevated to Carolina's top line at practice Monday. He joined Eric Staal and Alexander Semin, which bumped Jiri Tlusty to Jordan Staal's ine with Nathan Gerbe. Ruutu logged 10:28 of ice time in his season debut on Sunday, while skating on the fourth line.

Tuomo Ruutu was eased back into the lineup during the Carolina Hurricanes' 5-3 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday. He only logged 10:28 of total ice time, almost three minutes of which were on the power play. He had a -1 rating, two PIM and two SOG in his 2013-14 season debut. It would be wise to wait and see if he gets minutes with better Hurricanes teammates before considering him, especially since he could easily re-injure himself.

Tuomo Ruutu is making his 2013-14 season debut for the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. He's dealt with a ton of injury problems in his up-and-down career, the most recent issue being some kind of lower-body issue (the team denied that this latest bit was a recurrence of a hip injury). He had nine points and 8 PIM in 17 games last year, but fantasy owners are hoping for the kind of work he did in 2008-09 (54 points, 79 PIM) and 10-11 (57 points, 54 PIM).

Tuomo Ruutu (lower body) has been medically cleared to play. Ruutu has yet to play this season after missing most of last year with a hip injury. He practiced on the fourth line Saturday but will likely see second line duty once he is in game shape. Ruutu should be looked at in deep leagues on the waiver wire as he has 40 point potential with some penalty minutes. He is usually one of the league leaders in hits so if your pool uses that category, then he is a very good pickup.

Tuomo Ruutu (lower body) was back at practice Monday. He skated in a no-contact jersey and will travel with the team on their road trip. "We'll see how (Ruutu) feels and where he's at tomorrow," coach Kirk Muller said. Ruutu has missed Carolina's first two games of the season because of a lower-body injury.

Tuomo Ruutu (lower body) might be a week away from returning, according to Carolina GM Jim Rutherford. He has been skating but isn't to be available when Carolina opens their 2013-14 campaign versus Detroit on Friday.

The Carolina Hurricanes placed Tuomo Ruutu on the injured reserve Sunday. Chip Alexander reports that Canes GM Jim Rutherford insists that it isn't related to a prior hip injury. Either way, it seems as though his rough style is really catching up with him, providing another tough break for Carolina.
