Tim Thomas will not be returning to the Dallas Stars for the 2013-14 campaign. Thomas was decent, but not great in his comeback attempt in 2013-14. He ended up with a 2.88 GAA and .908 save percentage in 48 games with Florida and Dallas. He might be able to find work as a backup goaltender for the 2014-15 campaign, but at the age of 40, it wouldn't be surprising if he simply decides to hang up his skates for good.

Tim Thomas and the United States were eliminated from the 2014 World Championship in the Quarterfinals on Thursday. Thomas posted an unimpressive 3.38 GAA and .868 save percentage in seven contests during the tournament. Given that the 40-year-old is an unrestricted free agent, it's possible that he's played in his last game.

Tim Thomas may have played his last game with the Stars on Sunday, but he has enjoyed his experience in Dallas. "I've had the opportunity to experience a different role than I've had in the past, but it's been a good thing," Thomas said. "I've helped support Kari and helped support the team. It's given me the opportunity to get outside of myself, and I've enjoyed that." He will turn 40 years of age on Tuesday and can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Goalie Tim Thomas made 29 stops for Dallas in a 2-1 loss to the Coyotes in Phoenix Sunday night. While the Coyotes didn't qualify for the post-season, Dallas will begin their opening playoff round on Wednesday in Anaheim. Dallas played Sunday without many of its top players including captain Jamie Benn, defensemen Trevor Daley and Brendan Dillon, goaltender Kari Lehtonen and forward Ray Whitney. Thomas, picked up by Dallas earlier this season from the Florida Panthers, ends the regular season with a win-loss record of 18-23-4, a GAA of 2.90 and a save percentage of .907.

Tim Thomas is expected to play between the pipes on Sunday. Dallas has secured its postseason spot, so Kari Lehtonen will likely get a breather before the playoffs start. Thomas has a 2.90 GAA and .907 save percentage in 47 games with Dallas and Florida this season.

Tim Thomas was solid for the Stars, but was saddled with a loss in Wednesday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of Columbus. The game began with the Stars already trailing 1-0 since this was the continuation of the contest that was halted due to the cardiac event suffered by Rich Peverley earlier in the season. Thomas turned away 23 of the 25 shots he faced on the night, but saw his record fall to 18-23-4. His GAA is 2.90 while his save percentage is .907.

Tim Thomas sat on the bench for Dallas' game against Florida on Sunday afternoon. He served as the Panthers' starting netminder until he was dealt to the Stars at the trade deadline. Kari Lehtonen got the nod instead and he made 21 stops in a 3-2 loss.

The Dallas Stars and Tim Thomas are still adjusting to each other's tendencies. "I think the comfort there is we've been around Kari's style the whole year, that's comforting for us," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Tim's style is an aggressive style, and you have to be ready to protect off the back side, and our defending hasn't been built that way, for the most part, and that's just something our D will have to get used to." Thomas has a 2-2-1 record with an .884 save percentage and a 3.55 GAA in five appearances with the Stars since being acquired from Florida. He plans to help his teammates out by catering his strategy to the opponent and the type of game that is unfolding in front of him.

Dalas goaltender Tim Thomas lost his third straight decision Thursday as the Stars lost to Philadelphia by a score of 4-2. Thomas allowed four goals on 29 shots in place of starter Kari Lehtonen and saw his record fall to 2-1-2 since joining Dallas. His GAA with the Stars is an unsightly 3.53 while his save percentage is .884. He will likely retake his place as the backup netminder in the team's next game.
