Tim Erixon played through an illness on Thursday. Erixon didn't complete the Blue Jackets' morning skate due to the sickness. All the same, he blocked five shots and was on the ice for 20:29 minutes in Columbus' 2-1 overtime win.

Columbus has called up defenseman Tim Erixon. He may play on Thursday night in his Columbus debut after Adrian Aucoin and Nikita Nikitin were banged up in Tuesday's loss to Minnesota. Although it isn't clear who will sit out. Erixon was acquired as part of the trade that sent former captain Rick Nash to the New York Rangers.

Erixon was acquired from the New York Rangers as part of the package that traded former Blue Jackets captain Rich Nash.

Rangers general manager Glen Sather added Tim Erixon as a "sweetener" to the Rick Nash deal, according to The Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline. Sather included the prospect defenseman late last week, but only if Columbus GM Scott Howson added something else, and that's why the third-round pick was given to the Rangers. The 21-year-old Erixon will get a chance make the lineup in training camp.
