Thompson was just about all of the Sabres' offense Friday. He erased a 2-0 deficit in the second period, then added a go-ahead goal and an empty-netter in the third to finish off an excellent performance. It's not the best game of his career -- he had a five-goal effort Dec. 7, 2022 versus the Blue Jackets -- but it was easily Thompson's best game this season. He's up to 26 goals, 49 points, 226 shots on net, 72 hits and a minus-3 rating through 63 appearances.

Thompson had a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Flames.

That pair of points brings Thompson's point streak to five games, a stretch over which he has three goals and seven points. This stretch is bringing his points up toward what he's done in the last two seasons, campaigns in which he totaled 38 and 47 goals and 68 and 94 points. This season, he has 22 goals and 45 points. It's a disappointing result after a couple of very productive outings.

Compared to his 94-point campaign from last season, he's been a significant disappointment in fantasy this year, but he's still a top-six forward that can make a heavy impact.

Thompson has three goals and three helpers over his last five outings since a one-game absence with an upper-body injury. He tied the game at 1-1 just 49 seconds into the first period and set up Alex Tuch later in the frame for what ended up being the game-winner. Thompson is up to 21 tallies, 41 points, 207 shots on net, 60 hits and a minus-9 rating through 58 appearances. He'll fall well short of his last two campaigns, but his top-line role continues to make him an interesting option in fantasy.

Thompson gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, but the team's offense went cold after that. The 26-year-old's tally was his 20th of the season, and over the last 14 games, he's produced five goals and 10 points, with four of the goals coming on the man advantage.

He helped set up second-period tallies by Connor Clifton and Bowen Byram as the Sabres built a 6-1 lead before the game was half over. Thompson still hasn't re-discovered last season's elite form, but over his last 12 games he's managed to produce four goals and nine points as Buffalo scrambles to stay in the playoff race.
