Steve Ott collected two assists in Buffalo's loss to Philadelphia on Tuesday.
He was also credited with a game-high seven hits in the contest. Ott has generated just 14 points in 45 games this season, but he's earned four helpers in his past four outings. He will enter Wednesday's action at No. 7 overall in hits, with 147, but his meager point total and minus-16 rating doesn't make him an attractive fantasy option right now.

Steve Ott picked up an assist in Buffalo's 2-1 win against New Jersey on Saturday.
Ott also had a game-high seven hits. Ott has 11 points and 43 penalty minutes in 42 games this season, which isn't far off the norm for him, but his minus-18 rating is limiting what little fantasy value he might have had in standard leagues.

Steve Ott recorded a goal in Tuesday's win over Winnipeg.
It ended a 12-game scoreless drought for the Buffalo captain. The Sabres have averaged just 1.62 goals for per game this season, which ranks them dead last in the league, so there have been plenty of players mired in prolonged scoring slumps. Ott has four goals and four assists in 34 games.

Steve Ott wants to see and bring more consistency to the table for the Sabres.
"We're all in the same boat together but you have to be accountable to your teammates and make sure you're ready to go," Ott said. "If I'm a physical player, I better be physical every single night or if I'm an offensive player. Those consistencies in your game ... have to be effective." He hasn't recorded a point in his last seven outings. Ott has seven points and a minus-11 rating this year.

Steve Ott replaced Tyler Ennis on Buffalo's top line during Monday's practice.
Ennis, Cody Hodgson and Matt Moulson were benched last Friday. Coach Ron Rolston wanted to add some "heaviness" to his number one line and Ott should help the trio in that regard. Ennis skated between Ville Leino and Drew Stafford in Monday's session.

Vanek and Ott were named co-captains at the start of the 2013-14 season, with Ott wearing the 'C' on the road and Vanek getting it for home games. Ott has three points, 20 penalty minutes and 44 hits in 13 games.

Steve Ott scored the game-winner for the Buffalo Sabres, who beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 on Friday.
Ott is doing about what expected overall (18 PIM in 12 GP), but fantasy owners would likely prefer a little bit more of everything. Perhaps his peripherals will pick up if Buffalo is in more heated games (when agitators usually make a bigger impact).
