Abbott has signed with Swiss hockey club Kloten, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abbott at least impressed the bosses running the Maple Leafs, Ducks, Blackhawks and Devils enough to play in their respective minor-league systems, but the undrafted winger only ended up in two NHL games since the Leafs took a chance on him as a free agent in 2011-12. The 29-year-old is a terrific passer who should turn heads in Switzerland, though it appears his NHL hopes are dashed.

The Blackhawks traded Abbott and Sam Carrick to the Ducks in exchange for Kenton Helgesen and a 2019 seventh-round pick Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Abbott is 28-years-old and has only drawn into two NHL contests during his five-year career, so the Blackhawks are essentially just shedding some organizational depth in exchange for a late-round pick with this move. The 5-foot-9 winger will likely report to his new club's AHL affiliate and finish the 2016-17 campaign in the minors.

The Blackhawks assigned Abbott to AHL Rockford on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old winger drew into one game during his brief stay with the big club, and failed to make much of an impact, recording one shot on goal while getting just 8:34 of ice time in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Sabres. The diminutive winger has only played in two NHL contests during his six-year career, and will likely spend the rest of the 2016-17 campaign in the minors.

Abbott was recalled from AHL Rockford on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
With Tyler Motte being sent down to the minors Tuesday, the Blackhawks were in need of forward depth and Abbott was given the call up. The 28-year-old AHL journeyman has accumulated 21 points over 30 games in the minors -- tied for most on the IceHogs -- and could make his 2016-17 NHL debut as early as Thursday against the Sabres.

Abbott was traded to the Blackhawks on Thursday in exchange for defenseman T.J. Brennan, TSN's Mark Masters reports. Already 26 years old, Abbott has just one NHL appearance to his name, though he did score 69 points in 64 games for AHL Toronto last season. Things haven't gone nearly as well in 2014-15, with Abbott sporting just 24 points through 46 AHL games.

Abbott re-signed with the Leafs on Tuesday, the Globe and Mail reports. The one-year deal will keep Abbott with the organization, and there's a good chance he'll spend the season in the AHL. He enjoyed a stellar season for the Toronto Marlies last season, notching 17 goals and 52 assists in 64 games. He appeared in one contest for the Leafs but failed to record a point.

Spencer Abbott scored the Marlies' only goal in a 2-1 loss to Texas in the fifth game of the AHL's Western Conference finals. Texas now leads 3-2 in games. Abbott, along with Peter Holland, have been the Marlies' scoring stars this series. It was Abbott's fourth goal in Toronto's last two games. The 26-year-old forward registered 69 points in 64 AHL games this season but is not expected to make much of a fantasy contribution going forward.
