GM Jim Nill announced Friday that the team will part ways with minor league forward Glennie. Glennie was the eighth overall pick in the 2009 draft, but has failed to develop, playing only one NHL game in his career.

Glennie was placed on waivers by the Stars on Sunday, according to Mark Stepneski of NHL.com. Glennie looked like a darkhorse for the lineup, especially with Cody Eakin still unsigned, but if he clears waivers he'll find his way onto the AHL roster.

Glennie had a goal and assist in Sunday's team scrimmage and could be in the conversation for an opening night roster spot, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Glennie hasn't developed as quickly as the Stars had hoped after he was selected eighth overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, but he did show signs of a breakthrough with AHL Texas last season, delivering capable play on both ends of the ice. With Rich Peverley out indefinitely due to his cardiac condition and restricted free agent Cody Eakin still unsigned, a path could exist for Glennie to make the squad if he continues to excel in camp. However, Glennie would likely be limited to bottom-six duty, limiting his fantasy upside.

Scott Glennie picked up two goals and an assist in a 6-3 win over St. John's in Game 1 of the Calder Cup Final on Sunday night. "He's put the work in, and he's really improved his game," Texas coach Willie Desjardins said before the AHL Final. "He had to earn it. He sat probably 20 games at one point, and he had to earn his way back into the lineup, but he did it." Glennie was the eighth overall pick in the 2009 draft, but he's only appeared in one NHL game and it came during the 2011-12 campaign. He's starting to gain back some attention after notching six goals and four assists in 16 playoff games. Glennie could finally be ready to push for a roster spot in the fall.

Scott Glennie is projected to play alongside Loui Eriksson in his NHL debut on Saturday. The Stars are scratching a large chunk of their veteran players on Saturday, so Glennie should get plenty of ice time. This is a great opportunity for him to show what he can do ahead of the Stars' 2012 training camp. He has 12 goals and 37 points in 68 AHL games this season.

The Dallas Stars have recalled Scott Glennie from the minors. The Stars first pick in the 2009 Entry Draft, eighth overall, had 12 goals and 37 points for the Texas Stars of the AHL in his first professional season, although he did play in four games last season after his junior career ended. He is a strong two-way player who has a physical element to his game and isn't afraid to drop his gloves.

Scott Glennie has been sidelined with concussion-like symptoms. :He got hit in the head and we're treating that right now," Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk said. "We want to make sure he's good, and we're taking our time and being cautious, but I think everyone believes he'll be fine and recover from this pretty quickly." Glennie is expected to be assigned to AHL Texas when he's healthy.
