Murphy signed a one-year contract with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL on Wednesday, Patrick Williams of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy spent last season with AHL Grand Rapids, logging 29 points in 53 contests. Despite that modest success, he'll head back overseas after previously playing in the KHL with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk and Dinamo Minsk for a couple of years. The 29-year-old defenseman may not make it back to North American hockey again, and he hasn't played in the NHL since 2018-19.

Murphy was waived by the Red Wings on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy returned from a two-year stint in the KHL and racked up 27 points in 37 games with AHL Henderson during the 2020-21 campaign. He hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since the 2018-19 season and should spend most of this year in the minors as well.

Murphy signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy is coming off a strong year with AHL Henderson in which he produced 27 points in 37 contests. The 28-year-old defenseman hasn't played in the NHL since 2018-19 when he played in three games between the Wild and the Devils. The Red Wings are in a rebuild, but it's unclear if the Ontario native will get a chance to win a roster spot in training camp.

Murphy signed a one-year contract with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (KHL) on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
After being acquired via trade from Minnesota during the 2018-19 season, the Devils opted not to extend Murphy a qualifying offer this offseason. With no deal in place, the 26-year-old will try his luck in the KHL. Selected by the Hurricanes with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, the blueliner logged 175 games with Carolina, Minnesota and New Jersey, in which he tallied eight goals and 35 helpers. At this point, Murphy should probably be considered a long shot to make his way back to the NHL and will likely close out his career overseas.

Murphy did not receive a qualifying offer from the Devils ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
EDGE Analysis
New Jersey acquired Murphy back in January, but the 26-year-old never found his footing in the Devils organization, appearing in just one game and failing to record a point. Barring a big jump in performance, Murphy almost certainly will spend most of next season in the minors, but it won't be with AHL Binghamton (New Jersey's AHL affiliate).

Murphy was assigned to AHL Binghamton on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Devils needed to clear a roster spot after claiming Kenny Agostino off of waivers from the Canadiens. Murphy picked up an assist in his last game with the Devils but will now return to their AHL affiliate where he's played only a pair of games in 2018-19. The 25-year-old has split time with Iowa and Binghamton this season.

Murphy was called up from AHL Binghamton on Saturday, Chris Ryan of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
This counts as Murphy's first call-up since the Wild traded him to the Devils on Jan. 30. The right-shot defenseman has eight goals and 34 assists over 174 career NHL games between the Hurricanes and Wild. New Jersey will square off against Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Murphy in action against his former team.

The Wild traded Murphy to the Devils on Wednesday in exchange for Michael Kapla.
EDGE Analysis
Although Murphy has never lived up to his 12th overall selection in 2011, the blueliner has recorded a few respectable NHL campaigns and racked up 28 points -- four goals and 24 assists -- in the AHL last season. Murphy will make the third stop of his career in New Jersey, where the Devils hope to unlock his first-round talent. However, he'll begin his time with the organization in the AHL.

Minnesota assigned Murphy to AHL Iowa on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Wild needed to send Murphy packing in order to make room on their roster for Joel Eriksson Ek, who will serve as an insurance option up front against the Bruins on Tuesday. Murphy will likely be recalled by the big club as soon as Eric Fehr (undisclosed) is cleared to play.

The Wild recalled Murphy from AHL Iowa on Tuesday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Wild sent Matt Bartkowski down to minors after Monday's loss to the Penguins, so Murphy was brought up to add depth to the blue line with Nick Seeler (upper body) still injured. Murphy has held his own in the minors with 13 points in 27 games, and his ceiling is on the bottom pairing during this NHL stint.
