Craig spent the past two seasons playing in the minors for AHL Cleveland in which he tallied 20 goals and 22 helpers in 131 outings. For his career, the center played in 198 NHL contests for various organizations -- including Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and Columbus -- where he registered 63 points and 148 PIM. Selected in the eighth round of the 2002 NHL Draft, the 35-year-old will head out to the desert to help guide the expansion franchise.

Craig was reassigned to AHL Springfield on Friday, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. The Blue Jackets announced that Boone Jenner (back) and Jeremy Morin (accelerated heart rate) would be activated from injured reserve, making Craig's services no longer necessary. Craig appeared in each of the last two games for the Jackets, putting two shots on net but failing to provide any points.

The Blue Jackets recalled Craig on Monday, the team's official site reports. Craig, who has notched 28 points and 54 PIM in 57 games with AHL Springfield to date, has yet to appear in any games with the big club this season, but he does have 196 NHL games under his belt.

Craig was waived by the Blue Jackets on Monday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. The 32-year-old Craig is an AHL journeyman whose chances of cracking the Blue Jackets' Opening Night roster were remote, at best. He'll return to the familiar confines of Springfield, where he supplied 18 goals and 15 assists over 55 games last season.
