Clune signed an AHL deal with Toronto over the weekend. Bought out of the final year of his contract by the Predators before free agency started, Clune will head north to continue his career after recording 17 points in 62 games for AHL Milwaukee last season while making one appearance with their parent club in Nashville. Clune, who recently opened up in The Players' Tribune about his prior struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, has been sober for five years and could reemerge as a fourth-line option for the Maple Leafs at some point in 2015-16 if he first excels with their farm team.

Clune will be bought out by the Predators after clearing waivers over the weekend, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. Earlier indications suggested that Clune wasn't going to be bought out by the Predators, but the team ultimately elected to cut ties. Clune will thus become an unrestricted free agent, though don't expect him to generate a ton of interest on the open market. The 28-year-old's lack of offensive ability will likely force him to settle for a one-year, two-way deal.

Clune cleared waivers on Thursday and will remain with the Predators, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. The Predators aren't expected to pursue a buyout of Clune, which means he'll likely return to a similar role with Nashville's AHL club in 2015-16. The 28-year-old winger registered six goals and 11 assists for a total of 17 points in 62 games with AHL Milwaukee last season.

Clune was placed on waivers Wednesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports. The Predators aren't expected to pursue a buy out of Clune, who is expected to clear waivers and remain with the team. The 28-year-old played 62 games with AHL Milwaukee last season, recording six goals, 11 assists, and 181 PIM.

Clune was placed on waivers by the Predators on Tuesday. Clune was removed from the roster to open a spot for Matt Cullen, who is ready to make his season debut. Clune will be assigned to AHL Milwaukee if he clears waivers.

Clune skated just 5:30 in Thursday's season opener against Ottawa. He registered three hits but zero shots on goal and took no penalties. With 305 career PIM along with just 18 points in 120 games, it's not hard to tell where Clune's minimal fantasy value lies. The problem is, as an enforcer he just doesn't see enough ice time to warrant any real considering outside of ultra-deep leagues.

Richard Clune reached out to Washington's Patrick Wey after he gave him a beating in a fight on Sunday. "I reached out to the kid on Washington just to express the fact that I hope he's OK and it wasn't my intention to hurt him," said Clune, who sent a text message. "He was the one kind of engaging me, and I had no idea who he was. I don't even look at the other team's roster before the game. I just see the names they write on the board. The kid said he was OK." Clune has 152 penalty minutes in 52 games this season and he's an experienced fighter. Wey was participating in his first NHL bout, so it was a mismatch from the beginning.

Richard Clune collected a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the New York Rangers. His first goal of the season, which came late in the first period, held up as the game winner. Clune probably would've been a healthy scratch Tuesday if Craig Smith wasn't feeling under the weather.
