Budaj will call it a career following the end of AHL Ontario's 2018-19 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj saw action in 368 NHL games over the course of his 13-year career, in which he posted a 158-132-40 record with 18 shutouts and a .904 save percentage. The veteran netminder saw his spot as the No. 2 in Los Angeles taken over by Jack Campbell and instead spent the bulk of his final year playing with AHL Ontario. Drafted by the Avalanche with the 63rd overall pick in the 2001 NHL Draft, the Slovak spent six years in Colorado before playing for Montreal, Los Angeles and Tampa Bay.

Budaj was demoted to AHL Ontario on Tuesday, per the AHL transactions page.
EDGE Analysis
Rather than sending rookie Cal Peterson back to the minors, it appears the Kings have opted to keep the youth around and will instead send the veteran back to the minors. This could indicate that Quick will cede some starts in goal after a mediocre showing to open the season. Budaj should remain the top backup option if either of the two lands on injured reserve.

Budaj stopped 2-of-3 shots in relief during Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Cal Petersen got lit up for six goals before getting the hook in favor of Budaj. In three appearances this season, Budaj has allowed six goals on just 33 shots.

Budaj (illness) will serve as the backup goalie for Friday's game versus the Blackhawks, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
This bodes well for Budaj's chances to start Saturday against the Predators while Cal Petersen will get Friday's start. Budaj struggled in his only start of the year, allowing four goals on 19 shots to a strong Toronto team.

Budaj is under the weather and could miss Friday's clash with Chicago, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even if Budaj is healthy enough to suit up, it seems unlikely he will be between the pipes which means Cal Petersen is slated to make his first NHL start -- although the team has not provided confirmation of its starting keeper. The veteran Budaj will likely get the start for the second game of the Kings' back-to-back versus Nashville on Saturday.

Budaj will start Tuesday's game versus the Maple Leafs, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old veteran netminder takes over starting duties considering both Jack Cambell and Jonathan Quick are out with knee injuries. Budaj has one NHL appearance this season, back on Oct. 13. Since then, he's started three games in AHL Ontario, going 1-2-0 with a 6.16 GAA and a .825 save percentage.

Budaj will be recalled to Los Angeles to replace the injured Jonathan Quick (lower body), Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jack Campbell will be the KIngs' likely starter Sunday against the Rangers while Quick is considered day-to-day. Budaj has made on appearance for the Kings this season.

Budaj was reassigned to AHL Ontario on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Kings activated No. 1 netminder Jonathan Quick (lower body) from injured reserve, and considering Budaj is behind Jack Campbell on the organizational depth chart, he's the one who gets moved down to the minors. Budaj went 27-20-3 with seven shutouts for the Kings back in the 2016-17 campaign, making him a trustworthy stopgap option whenever he's needed in the NHL.

Budaj was called up from AHL Ontario, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj was recalled to backup Jack Campbell against Detroit Sunday after Jonathan Quick (lower body) was injured in practice. The severity of Quick's injury is still unknown, but Budaj should stay at the NHL level until he returns.

Budaj was officially assigned to AHL Ontario on Monday after clearing waivers, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports
EDGE Analysis
Budaj will now battle with Cal Petersen for the top job in Ontario, but with Petersen appearing to be one of the goaltenders of the future for the Kings, it's more likely that he's either going to be the backup or traded to another team. For now, he shouldn't be a factor on your fantasy roster.
