Retired NHL star Owen Nolan and his wife, Diana, have listed their home in San Jose for sale at $4.9 million Nolan, 42, played 18 seasons for the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Phoenix Coyotes and Minnesota Wild, making five All-Star teams. The Mediterranean-inspired home, built in 2010, occupies more than three acres in the foothills of Almaden Valley with sprawling city views. Clad in hardwood and detailed molding, the nearly 9,500 square feet of living space includes a chef's kitchen, formal dining room, grand living room, five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three powder rooms. Nolan and his wife own another home at the Almaden Country Club in San Jose that they purchased in late 2013 for $1.865 million. It is believed that Owen Nolan will announce his retirement on Tuesday. Nolan participated in Vancouver's 2011 training camp on a tryout basis, but he failed to make the team. Nolan was originally taken by the Quebec Nordiques with the first overall pick in the 1990 NHL entry draft and went onto record 422 goals, 885 points, and 1,793 penalty minutes in 1,200 career NHL games. Nolan spent parts of five seasons with the Nordiques before the team moved to Colorado. He only ended up playing in nine games with the Avalanche before he was shipped to San Jose for Sandis Ozolinsh. Nolan also played for Toronto, Phoenix, Calgary, and Minnesota over the course of his career and he won a gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics with Team Canada.

Owen Nolan has been cut from the Vancouver Canucks' training camp roster. Nolan was participating in the Canucks' camp on a tryout basis. He's 39 years old and we wouldn't be surprised if he's play in his last NHL game. However, if that's the case, he's had a career he can be proud of, having scored 422 goals and 885 points in 1,200 career contests.

It appears that Owen Nolan is a longshot to make the Canucks. He is in camp on a tryout basis but Vancouver management is skeptical about his body being able to hold up to the rigours of playing as a power forward at the age of 39. "Can the body hold up the pace and can his body sustain it on a consistent basis?" Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault asked. "You have to be able to practise and play to maintain a high tempo. He's playing today. Is he going to be able to practise tomorrow? That's part of the the body being able to hold up at that age. He's been able to follow the pace and has brought the skill he might still have - those hands are still there - and he goes to the net hard". Still it may not be enough. We will watch Nolan's efforts to comeback with interest.

Owen Nolan wants to put forth his best effort to secure a contract with the Vancouver Canucks out of training camp this fall. "One of the main reasons I'm still playing is I want to win and I think Vancouver has a great chance of that," he said. "My goal is to just make the team. I'm not focused on where I'm going to play or how much. I'm just going to come in with a positive attitude and give it my all and hopefully they're impressed with what they see." Nolan will try to crack the opening day roster on a professional tryout and with Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond expected to start the year on the sidelines with injuries his chances of doing that likely went up.
