Jokinen announced his retirement Tuesday, signing an honorary contract with the Panthers, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's natural to think of Jokinen as a journeyman since he played for 10 different organizations, but he officially hangs up his skates with a Florida club for which he served as team captain in four of seven seasons. Now 38, the Finn accumulated 750 points (321 goals, 429 assists) over 1,231 career contests. He also has extensive experience in international play with 11 medals to his name between the Olympics, World Championships, World Cup, and World Junior Championships.

Jokinen needs to undergo surgery on his shoulder, Sami Hoffren of Sports Sanomat reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jokinen is currently a free agent, and plans to decide if he would like to continue his career as a professional hockey player after undergoing surgery on his shoulder. Jokinen told reporters Monday "It could be over. Or I'll play in NHL, Europe or beer league." It remains to be seen if any NHL clubs will have any interest in acquiring Jokinen's services in 2015-16, but he'll need to get healthy before that's even a possibility.

Jokinen notched the game-winning goal Sunday against Chicago. It was just the fourth goal of the season for Jokinen, who skated just 8:42 in the win. The veteran, who is currently skating on the third line, has managed two points in six games with the Blues, but is still stuck at nine points in 60 games on the season. Considering he's only played in six career playoff games, it's hard to predict how big of an impact he will have on the Blues during their playoff run. The former 90-point-getter isn't the talent he once was, but he should still be able to put up a decent amount of points with his latest team.

Jokinen dressed Sunday for the Blues' 2-1 loss to the Red Wings, but saw just 10:30 of ice time registering one shot on net and a blocked shot in the game. The Blues have been tinkering with their fourth line and Jokinen has been in the press box more often than on the ice since being acquired by St. Louis. It doesn't seem like the Finnish veteran has all that much left in the tank - he has 7 points in 57 games this year - but he isn't getting a chance to show otherwise in coach Ken Hitchcock's system. He is not going to help fantasy owners (if there are any left) down the stretch.

Based on warmups, it looks like Jokinen (upper body) is in line to suit up Sunday against the Stars, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Jokinen thus appears on track to skate on the Blues' fourth line Sunday, along with Marcel Goc and Ryan Reaves.

The Blues have ruled Jokinen (upper body) out for both of their games over the weekend, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports. Coach Ken Hitchcock previously considered using Jokinen for either Saturday's game against the Wild or Sunday's tilt with the Wild, but after further review, the Blues determined that it was more prudent to delay the forward's return. On a positive note, it doesn't sound like Jokinen is experiencing any setbacks with his recovery, so waiting until next week to make his return to the lineup will simply ensure that he's not on the ice at less than 100 percent.

Jokinen (upper body) will remain out of the lineup until the weekend, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports. He'll sit for a second straight game Thursday against the Flyers due to the injury, but coach Ken Hitchcock hopes to get the center back in the lineup for one of the Blues' two matches Saturday and Sunday. Jokinen was able to skate with the team Thursday, which would seem to validate the belief that his injury is minor.

Jokinen (upper body) took part in Wednesday's optional practice, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The upper-body ailment kept Jokinen out of Tuesday's tilt with the Jets, but it's not believed to be a serious issue. If Jokinen can make it through Thursday's morning skate no worse for the wear, he'll likely be reinserted into the lineup for later that night against the Flyers.

Jokinen, who left Saturday's game in the third period with an undisclosed injury, didn't practice Monday but is expected to be available Tuesday, Tom Timmerman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Jokinen made his debut with the Blues Saturday, but had it shortened by injury. The 35-year-old doesn't serve much fantasy value anyway, totaling just seven points this season, but he should be available Tuesday barring a setback.

Jokinen will make his debut with the Blues on Saturday. He will center the fourth line with Ryan Reaves and Steve Ott. Jokinen was acquired at the trade deadline by the Blues and will play a depth role in St. Louis. He has only seven points in 54 games on the season, so don't count on the 35-year-old to be rejuvenated with the change of scenery.
