Jordan signed a contract with Akbars of the AHL on Friday, Igor Eronko of Russia's Sport-Express reports.

Jordan, who played for the Czech team in the World Cup of Hockey, said during the international tournament that he was eyeing a return to the NHL, but under the condition that he'd get a one-way deal. That didn't come to fruition, so the 26-year-old defenseman with decent passing skills will move his hockey career overseas for the first time.

Jordan, an unrestricted free agent, has been offered a contract from the Hurricanes, among other teams, but the Czech defenseman is not interested in a two-way deal, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Jordan is on the Czech Republic team for the World Cup of Hockey. Three of his past four contracts have been of the two-way variety, which allows teams to easily shuffle him from the NHL to the minors at a lower cost. Jordan entered the league with Carolina in 2008 with promise as a playmaking defender, but he has only managed seven points (three goals, four assists) in 79 career games. Steer clear.

Jordan sat out Tuesday's game against the Bruins as a healthy scratch, the fifth time in the past seven games he has watched from the press box.

EDGE Analysis

Jordan recently had a four-week stretch (from Feb. 25 to Mar. 22) where he played in every single game while Justin Faulk was out with an ankle injury, but he's only played in two games since Faulk's return to the lineup Mar. 24. With just a single point in 25 games this season, Faulk's fantasy value doesn't even move the needle in most formats.

Jordan potted a goal during the second period of Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Lightning. It was his first point in 21 games played this season.

EDGE Analysis

As the Canes' seventh defenseman, Jordan has seen very little playing time this season. However, with Justin Faulk currently on the sidelines with a leg injury, Jordan has now been in the lineup for eight consecutive games. He will likely return to healthy-scratch status once Faulk returns, however, and his fantasy value will once again resemble a number very close to zero.

Jordan will serve as a healthy scratch for the 20th consecutive game Saturday against the Predators, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Jordan has zero points in just 10 games this season and hasn't seen any game action since Nov. 16 against the Ducks. Mind you, his healthy-scratch status is not unusual as he played in just 38 games last season. His fantasy value is pretty much nil at this point in time.

The Hurricanes recalled Jordan from his conditioning assignment with AHL Charlotte.

EDGE Analysis

Jordan picked up three goals in four games with AHL Charlotte since leaving on the conditioning stint Dec. 14. It appears that's enough to convince the parent club that he's ready to return, and the blueliner should once again take his place among the defensive ranks.

The move comes after Jordan was a healthy scratch for the Hurricanes' last 12 games and having last played on Nov. 16. Brett Pesce and Noah Hanifin seem to have solidified their spots on the Carolina blueline, leaving Jordan on the outside looking in.

Jordan sat out Friday's 4-1 loss to Dallas, marking the fourth consecutive game he's watched from the pressbox.

EDGE Analysis

Even with fellow defenseman James Wisniewski on the DL with a torn ACL, Jordan is having trouble finding himself a spot on the Canes' blue line these days, as his spot has been taken by recent AHL callup Brett Pesce. At this point, it looks like the Canes' top six defensemen are pretty much set in stone for the time being, meaning Jordan will continue to be the odd man out for the foreseeable future. He should not be on anyone's fantasy roster right now.

Jordan and the Hurricanes agreed to terms on a one-year deal that will pay Jordan $625,000 next season. "Michal took great strides last season, and continued that progress when he represented his home country as it hosted the World Championship," said GM Ron Francis. "He's still a young defenseman, and we expect him to continue to improve going forward." The 24-year-old registered two goals and four assists for six points in 38 games for the 'Canes this season, all career-bests. He also spent time in the AHL with Charlotte, appearing in 30 games and totaling 11 points. Jordan again figures to split time between the NHL and AHL next season, but it sounds as though the Hurricanes view him as a part of their future.

Jordan was a healthy scratch Friday against Minnesota. Coach Bill Peters opted instead to start rookie Rasmus Rissanen, who was recently recalled from AHL Charlotte. Jordan has just four points in 24 games so far this season, so he could be the odd man out on the Canes' blue line for the foreseeable future.
