The Rangers signed Lindblad on Wednesday, the Boston Herald reports. The 25-year-old Lindblad, who notched 22 points in 47 games for AHL Providence last season, gives the Rangers' organization added forward depth, but he remains a break or two from the fantasy radar in his new playing context.

Lindblad wasn't tendered a qualifying offer Monday by the Bruins and will become an unrestricted free agent, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports. Lindblad appeared in two games for the big club during the past season, but he was viewed as strictly a depth player by the organization. There's a chance that the Bruins could still re-sign him, though it's likely he'll try to find an opportunity with another club that might offer a clearer path to ice time.

Lindblad was reassigned to Providence of the AHL on Thursday, NHL.com reports. Lindblad has skated in just two games for the Bruins this season, spending the majority of the year in Providence thus far. In 29 games at the AHL level, he has six goals and six assists.

The Bruins have recalled Lindblad from AHL Providence, csnne.com's Joe Haggerty reports. With forwards Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic having joined the ranks of the Bruins' injured players, Lindblad -- who has six goals and 12 points in 29 games for Providence to date -- will bolster the team's depth up front in advance of Monday's game against Detroit.

With both Brad Marchand and David Krejci dealing with injuries and iffy to play Saturday against the Canadiens, Caron and Matt Lindblad were recalled to provide some insurance at forward. Lindblad tallied just five points over 15 games in the minors, numbers that would probably confine him to a bottom-six role if he ends up suiting up Saturday for the Bruins.
