Greene is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene sustained the injury in Sunday's 2-1 shootout win over the Avalanche, but it isn't believed to be a particularly serious ailment. It isn't clear whether or not Greene will be able to suit up for either of the Kings final two preseason contests, but he shouldn't be in any danger of missing the team's regular season opener on Oct. 7.

Greene sustained an upper-body injury in Sunday's 2-1 shootout win over the Avalanche, LA Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene will be re-evaluated Monday, according to the report. He's a stay-at-home type who adds depth on the Kings' blue line. Despite 10 years worth of service time in the NHL, Greene has never had more than 15 points in a single season. However, he has been known to add PIMs on occasion.

Greene tallied one of five Kings goals in Tuesday's win over the Oilers. The 31-year-old Greene has three goals on the season, which qualifies as the second-highest total of his career. Needless to say, there's not much fantasy value to be found in that production, even after considering Greene's positive contributions in the PIM and hits categories.

Greene netted the Kings' only goal in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Flames. He also contributed six hits and three blocked shots. It's just the fifth goal over the last two seasons for Greene, who doesn't offer much in the way of offensive upside. He'll provide some value in the form of hits and blocks in specialty formats, but don't expect much more than that most nights.

Greene tallied the first goal in a 7-6 Predators win on Saturday afternoon. The blueliner has notched a point in two straight contests, but that's more than likely going to be the extent of the streak. He's tallied a total of 11 points over his last two seasons (78 games), as his stay-at-home role on defense doesn't lend itself to much scoring.

Greene tallied a goal in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Panthers. The goal was Greene's first in 47 regular-season and 20 postseason contests, a stretch that dates back all the way to Oct. 19, 2013. Greene is valued for his strong work in his own zone, but he won't see enough offensive involvement to warrant fantasy intrigue.

Matt Greene's four-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings is official. The Kings are hoping that Greene's injury woes are behind him after he was limited to just 43 regular season games over the past two seasons. From a fantasy perspective, the 31-year-old defenseman's value is limited even when he is healthy. He will average about a penalty minute per game, but he's never recorded more than 15 points in a single season.

Matt Greene has tentatively agreed to a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings. The contract isn't finalized yet, but it sounds like Greene won't end up testing the free agent market. The fact that it's a four-year extension is surprising given that a variety of injuries have limited him to 43 regular season games over the last two years. He was healthy for the Kings' Stanley Cup run, but his role in that was limited, as evidenced by the fact that he averaged just 15:53 minutes per game.

With Robyn Regehr likely to return on Saturday, Matt Greene could be a healthy scratch. Greene has been averaging just 13:51 minutes per contest in the playoffs, which puts him in dead last among Kings defensemen. He has three assists in 16 games.

The Los Angeles Kings sidestepped the assertion that they're the favorites going into the Stanley Cup Final. "It's the Stanley Cup Finals. I don't think any team is going to look at themselves as the underdogs," Greene said. "You're down to two teams, and you want to win, and that's all it really comes down to. It's an exciting time of the year to be a part of it. I really don't care about what the odds say or what you guys are saying about who's favored and who's not." Greene's comments were largely echoed by his teammates. The Kings are typically regarded as the favorites to defeat the New York Rangers, but there's not big gap there.
