Mathieu Garon has announced his retirement. Garon had a 144-131-31 record in 341 games with the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Tampa Bay Lightning. He had a career 2.83 GAA and .903 save percentage. Garon didn't play in North America this season, opting instead to sign with the KHL's Omsk Avangard.

Mathieu Garon has agreed to terms with Avangard Omsk of the KHL. Garon had a 2.90 GAA and .897 save percentage in 18 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. His new contract will cover the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Los Angeles Kings decided that a PTO was enough for Mathieu Garon, making him a free agent once more. Garon is an experienced backup, but Ben Scrivens probably deserves the No. 2 job anyway. Perhaps a team in need of depth will give Garon a try? There are worse backups in the NHL.

Mathieu Garon is attending Los Angeles' training camp on a tryout basis. He played with the Kings in 2005-06 and 2006-07, so returning to the team felt natural to him. "I was waiting to see. I had a few other places, a few other choices," said Garon. "But it seems like the team here, they really wanted me to come to camp. It was exciting for me. I know the city, I know this team. I've played here before, and I'm just excited to be here." Ben Scrivens is still considered to be the favorite to back up Jonathan Quick this season, but Garon will attempt to wrestle the role away from him.

Mathieu Garon allowed three goals on 22 shots Sunday as the Lightning dropped a 3-1 decision to Buffalo. Garon entered Saturday's loss to the Capitals in relief of the newly-acquired Ben Bishop and drew the start today, but was unable to record a victory. His record falls to 5-9-2 on the campaign.

Although he wasn't expected to play again this season, Mathieu Garon will likely get the start Sunday against Buffalo. Anders Lindback is still recovering from an ankle injury and Ben Bishop is playing Saturday. Start Garon at your own risk.

Mathieu Garon won't be back with the Tampa Bay Lightning next season. The Bolts acquired Ben Bishop from Ottawa Wednesday and he'll tend to the team's goal along with Anders Lindback in 2013-14. Garon is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

He had won his previous two games entering the contest, but this defeat drops his record to 5-8-1 on the year. Anders Lindback has resumed skating, but Garon will continue to shoulder the load between the pipes in his absence.

Mathieu Garon will likely start in net Tuesday night. Garon has been the main man in Tampa's net since Anders Lindback got hurt. Expect that to continue for as long as Lindback is sidelined. Garon has a 2.90 GAA and a .901 save percentage on the season.

He has a 2.90 goals-against average and .901 save percentage on the season and really shouldn't be on fantasy radars down the stretch.
