Klein scored a pair of goals with a plus-3 rating and five hits in Saturday's win against the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Klein had no goals over his first 45 goals, but he is making up for lost time lately. The defenseman has lit the lamp three times over the past six outings. He isn't really known for his offensive production, but is an asset in fantasy pools blocked shots (110) and hits (122).

Klein finally scored a goal Tuesday against Columbus, ending his 45-game skid to open the 2016-17 season.
EDGE Analysis
A nine-goal scorer in each of the past two seasons, Klein has been crushed by the hammer of regression this year, and it doesn't help that he's taking fewer shots than we've seen from him in a long time. Tuesday's goal was meaningless, but at least he ended streak of four games without a shot on net. On the bright side, owners in specialty formats that count hits and blocked shots should at least be reasonably happy with Klein's production in those categories despite his meager 12 points on the year.

Klein managed an assist, two shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 7-6 loss against Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
He'd gone without a point over his last eight contests, totaling just six shots in that time, and Klein still has just five helpers in his last 27 games. The offensive magic (relatively speaking) that he found over the last two years -- consecutive nine-goal, 17-assist campaigns -- has dissipated this year, as he's still looking for his first goal of 2016-17.

Klein set up a pair of goals in Tuesday's 7-2 beatdown of the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
Despite having just six points on the season, they've all come in the six games, so it's fair to say Klein is on a hot streak as far as defensive-minded blueliners are concerned. He hasn't shot the puck much (14 SOG) or performed as well in the plus-minus department as some of his teammates (plus-5), but Klein makes for a solid value play in daily formats while he's producing and is worth a look in deeper leagues as part of a prolific Rangers offensive machine.

Klein picked up a pair of assists in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
In truth, one of those probably deserved to be a goal, as Klein fired a shot that looked headed for twine already, but it just glanced off teammate Jesper Fast's skate before going in. Klein had gotten off to a cold start offensively, going without a point in his first eight games, but he warmed up over the Rangers' weekend back-to-back set, netting three helpers. It's going to be hard for him to match the nine goals he's put up each of the last two seasons, as he's also posted sky-high shooting percentages while not taking a lot of shots. That said, Klein has the benefit of playing within the league's best offense in the early going, which could lead to a more assist-heavy stat line.

Klein (back) told reporters on Tuesday that he'll be good to go for Wednesday night's game with the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
While Klein hasn't received official clearance from his head coach or training staff, his comfort level in dealing with the back spasms suggests that he's healthy enough to play his first game of the season on Wednesday. He'll look to expand on his recent success as he's put up nine goals and 17 assists in each of the last two seasons.

Klein (back) is a "long shot" to return for Monday's game against San Jose, the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
He hasn't played yet this season or practiced since Oct. 8. With Klein and Dan Girardi both hurt, Dylan McIlrath will enter the Rangers' lineup Monday night. Klein's next chance to return will come against the Red Wings on Wednesday.

Klein (back) was ruled out for Saturday's contest against St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Alain Vigneault described Klein as day-to-day so he could still be available for their upcoming home stand with the Sharks. Unfortunately, back injuries are often difficult to pin down to a specific timeline, which means fantasy owners will want to check back prior to puck drop Monday.

Klein (back) will miss Thursday's opening night game against the Islanders, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
An MRI revealed a strain in Klein's back, but he is still being considered day-to-day at this point. Dan Girardi will likely pick up the slack on the second defensive line in Klein's absence.

Klein has been held out of practice the last couple of days due to back spasms and his status remains unclear heading into Thursday's season opener against the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
A thumb fracture reduced Klein's 2015-16 season to just 69 games but his play didn't translate to much fantasy value even when he was healthy. The veteran blueliner tallied just 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) over 69 games last season but did post a plus-16 rating. The team should update his status again prior to Thursday's contest, but it's probably best to consider him questionable at this point.
