Rynnas was placed on unconditional waivers by the Stars on Thursday, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports. Rynnas wasn't planning on staying with the Stars in 2015-16 after he inked a one-year contract with Ak-Bars Kazan of the KHL, but the NHL club still would have retained his rights for another season had he elected to return to North America somewhere down the road. Instead, Rynnas will be granted his unconditional release, making him a free agent once his contract with the KHL club ends.

Rynnas plans to sign a one-year contract with Ak-Bars Kazan of the KHL, according to Finnish news outlet Iltalehti.fi. The Stars took a cheap flyer on Rynnas last summer, signing him to a one-way contract after he dominated in the Finnish Elite League. Though he did briefly unseat Anders Lindback as the Stars' top backup behind Kari Lehtonen, Rynnas was ultimately placed on waivers by the parent club. He ended up spending most of the season with AHL Texas, where he went 22-6-8 with a 2.53 GAA and .920 save percentage. Those numbers likely would have been enough to keep him around as an organizational depth option for the Stars, but Rynnas preferred to pursue a starting opportunity in Europe's top league. Should Rynnas decide to return to North America down the road, he'll remain property of the Stars, as he has one year remaining on a two-year, $1.1 million contract.

Rynnas was reassigned to AHL Texas on Friday, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports. Rynnas' stay in the NHL was short-lived, as the Stars opted to recall Anders Lindback from a conditioning assignment to start a game this weekend. Already 27 years old, Rynnas has just five NHL appearances to his name, but he is having a solid season in the AHL.

Rynnas was recalled from AHL Texas on Tuesday. The Stars will send a struggling Anders Lindback to the AHL on a conditioning assignment, but with Kari Lehtonen carrying the workload, Rynnas may not actually get any time in net.

Rynnas was assigned to AHL Texas on Sunday, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports. Rynnas allowed two goals on 15 shots Tuesday against the Jets, allowing five goals in the start before that against the Red Wings. The team utilizes Kari Lehtonen heavily, and will likely continue to do so with Anders Lindback called up to back him up in Rynnas' place.

Rynnas stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced in relief of starter Kari Lehtonen in Tuesday's loss to the Jets. Rynnas performed marginally better than Lehtonen while playing the game's final 32:26, but not enough to make a serious argument for more work. Though he's only had a two-game sample size at the NHL level, Rynnas hasn't shown he's any more capable of a backup than Anders Lindback, who was reassigned to the minors last week.

Rynnas was lit up for five goals on 29 shots to take the loss in his Stars debut Thursday against the Red Wings. We're sure this isn't quite the NHL return that Rynnas had in mind, but he didn't turn in very special play in the AHL and the Stars have struggled all year, so not much should be expected from Kari Lehtonen's new backup.

Rynnas was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and is thus in line to start Thursday against the Red Wings, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. After dumping Anders Lindback a day earlier, Rynnas will become the new backup to Kari Lehtonen, but they'll break him into his first taste of the NHL since 2012-13 with a start right off the bat. Rynnas posted so-so numbers with AHL Texas (2.58 GAA, .913 save percentage in 10 outings), which probably isn't enough to make him a trusty streaming option on the road against a respectable Detroit squad.

Rynnas was recalled from AHL Texas on Wednesday, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports. It looks like coach Lindy Ruff decided it was finally time to pull the plug on backup goalie Anders Lindback, who went 0-5 with a 4.63 GAA over his five outings. Rynnas is unlikely to push No. 1 netminder Kari Lehtonen for regular starts, but it shouldn't be hard for him to clear the low standard set by Lindback. The 26-year-old, who was signed to a two-way deal by the Stars over the summer, went 5-1-4 with a 2.58 GAA over 10 appearances with Texas.

Rynnas has cleared waivers and has been sent to the Texas Stars of the AHL. Rynnas is on a one-way deal, so he could return if Anders Lindback doesn't look good in relief appearances or if Lehtonen's injury lingers. He's next on the depth chart. But as far as fantasy is concerned, Rynnas should be off your radar for now.
