The Texas Stars more than doubled the Toronto Marlies shots on Friday, but Jussi Rynnas helped Toronto earn a 3-0 shutout. Rynnas stopped all 31 Stars SOG while the Marlies won despite only firing 17 pucks on the Stars' net. Texas features a potent group of players, particularly scorers such as Cody Eakin and a slew of promising defensemen including Brendan Dillon and Jamie Oleksiak.

Toronto has signed Jussi Rynnas to a one-year deal. He recorded an 11-9-1 record, including three shutouts, with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 22 games in the AHL last season, while also appearing in the ECHL and NHL. Rynnas is slated to remain in the minors next year.

Jussi Rynnas allowed seven goals in first NHL start Thursday night. Rynnas or Gustavsson... it does not really matter. Rynnas stopped 23 shots but didn't have much of a chance with a demoralized team playing in front of him. As for "The Monster", he has the athletic ability to be a good goalie in the NHL (was very good in January) but is subpar in every other facet of his game and could be out of a job with the Leafs by the start of next year's training training camp. Either way, any Leafs goaltender is a huge fantasy risk as a desperation move.

Jussi Rynnas will make his first NHL start on Thursday night after Jonas Gustavsson was injured in warmups. The Monster appeared to hurt his knee on a shot from Clarke MacArthur and needed help getting off the ice.

Jussi Rynnas was apparently never officially returned to the minors despite not practicing with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday. He was up with the team on emergency recall and Ben Scrivens took his spot during Wednesday's session. However, it appears as though Toronto will go one of them in goal against Philadelphia on Thursday night.

Jussi Rynnas was returned to the minors on Wednesday. He saw his first taste of NHL action during his emergency recall on Tuesday night in relief of Jonas Gustavsson. Rynnas turned aside all 10 shots he faced.

The Maple Leafs have called up Jussi Rynnas on an emergency basis from Toronto of the AHL. There is some uncertainty at the time of this posting as to why this move was made given there were no apparent injuries to James Reimer or Jonas Gustavsson. Signed as a free agent by Toronto in 2010, Rynnas has split this season between Reading (ECHL) and Toronto (AHL) recording a 2.48 GAA and 3 shutouts in 19 games with the latter.
