Jean-Francois Jacques is hoping that he'll be able to revive his NHL career. Jacques' injury history has complicated his career. Still, he's playing with the AHL San Antonio Rampage in the hope that he'll be able to earn a permanent spot with the Panthers when the lockout ends. "(The Panthers) told my agent they felt they had to get bigger - lots of guys on one-ways in Florida (if the NHL lockout ever ends) - but I had one last year in Anaheim and they tossed me," he said. "Maybe I could toss somebody else."

Florida has signed Jean-Francois Jacques to a one-year, two-way pact. He skated in just six games with Anaheim last season, while putting up 12 penalty minutes. Jacques had 40 points and 95 minutes in the sin bin over 65 contests with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. "Jacques is a big and physical player with NHL experience that we are happy to have signed," said GM Dale Tallon. "He is a hard working and tough to play against forward that adds further depth to our club."

Jean-Francois Jacques has been sent to the minors on Tuesday. This comes just a day after Jacques received a three-game suspension by the NHL. This move does not allow Jacques to escape punishment. The next time the Ducks call Jacques up, he'll have to resume serving his three-game suspension before he'll be allowed to play in an NHL contest.

The three-game suspension levied against Ducks forward Jean-Francois Jacques is fully endorsed by Anaheim general manager Bob Murray. "J.F. hit a player that was vulnerable after shooting the puck and he needs to be more aware in those situations," Murray said. "We will accept the league's ruling and will move forward." Jacques will have to forfeit $23,780.49 in salary to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The NHL has handed Jean-Francois Jacques a three-game suspension for his hit of Columbus' R.J. Umberger. Jacques is being punished because Umberger's head was the principal point of contact. Jacques also received a five-minute major for elbowing. He'll be eligible to return on January 15th.

Jean-Francois Jacques' hit on Columbus' R.J. Umberger could result in a suspension. Jacques already received a five minute elbowing major because his elbow appeared to hit high. "I got a pass and I was in a shooting motion," Umberger said. "Clearly defenseless. You can't hit a guy like that right there, especially directly to the head. It's a clear hit that they're trying to get rid of in this league." Jacques has already been suspended once this season, so that will probably factor into the NHL's decision.

The Anaheim Ducks promoted winger J.F. Jacques from the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. Jacques isn't expected to make much of a fantasy impact, although he is a somewhat decent source of penalty minutes.
