Akeson was traded to the Senators on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Akeson lands in Ottawa in a seven-player deal, placing the winger, Phil Varone, and Jerome Gauthier-Leduc on the Senators in exchange for Eric O'Dell, Cole Schneider, Alex Guptill, and Michael Sdao from Buffalo. It was a rather large deal, but for fantasy purposes, it almost concerns no one. Akeson hasn't appeared in the NHL this season, notching 30 points with AHL Rochester on the year. The Sens also acquired a conditional draft pick in the deal.

Akeson was cut by the Sabres and placed on waivers Saturday, reports TSN's Bob McKenzie.
EDGE Analysis
Akeson will report to AHL Rochester if he goes unclaimed. The 25-year-old winger turned pro as an undrafted free agent with Philadelphia, but his lack of size and all-round game has seen him toil in the minors over the past four seasons. He's become a prolific scorer in the AHL, leading the Flyers' AHL affiliate in scoring three straight years, not unlike teammate Phil Varone, who was cut earlier in camp. Akeson will be one of Buffalo's first call-ups should the need arise.

Akeson was not handed any discipline for his hit on Ottawa's Colin Greening, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The hit was a bit high, but wasn't particularly violent or overtly dangerous, so it isn't a huge surprise that the NHL's Department of Player Safety decided the play didn't warrant any discipline. Akeson will continue to battle for an Opening Night roster spot with the Sabres in camp.

Akeson will have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for a hit he delivered on the Senators' Colin Greening in Wednesday's preseason contest between Buffalo and Ottawa, TSN's Steve Lloyd reports.
EDGE Analysis
The hit wasn't particularly vicious, but was deemed violent enough to warrant a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety. Akeson doesn't have a track record of dirty play, so it seems unlikely that he would be given a suspension for what was a borderline (at best) illegal collision in Wednesday's preseason contest. The results of his hearing should be released within the next few days.

Akeson signed a two-way deal worth $575,000 Wednesday, reports John Vogl of The Buffalo News. The undrafted former Kitchener Ranger has been very productive for the Flyers' AHL affiliate over the past two seasons, scoring 117 points in 127 games. The diminutive winger was held without a point in 13 games with the Flyers this past season, and was subsequently released as a free agent. Akeson will provide some scoring depth for Buffalo, but he'll have to battle for a roster spot in training camp.

Akeson was reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Monday, TheAHL.com reports. Akeson appeared in the Flyers' regular-season finale Saturday against the Senators, seeing 13:21 of action. Over 13 games with the Flyers this season, Akeson failed to score a single point, a surprise development after he lit up the AHL ranks for 22 goals and 51 points in 53 games. At 24 years old, he's not really much of prospect at this stage and may only be viewed by the Flyers as organizational depth.

Akeson was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday. Akeson will enter the lineup for Saturday's season finale against the Senators with Vincent Lecavalier ruled out with a concussion. The winger was one of the leading scorers for Lehigh Valley with an impressive 22 goals and 29 assists over 53 games, but he floundered during his 12-game stay with the Flyers earlier this season, producing no points in 12 games before being placed on waivers.

Akeson will be sent back down to AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports. Akeson was called up earlier in the day Saturday, but was scratched from the lineup against San Jose. Oliver Lauridsen and Mark Alt were also sent down to the AHL after Saturday's game.

Akeson was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports. Akeson will give the Flyers some depth after both Wayne Simmonds (leg) and RJ Umberger (hip) were recently ruled out for the season. After claiming an opening night roster spot for the Flyers, Akeson was demoted to the minors in November after failing to register a point in any of his 12 games.

The Flyers have sent Akeson to AHL Lehigh Valley. Akeson was called up by the Flyers in case Matt Read (flu) wasn't able to play Saturday against the Sabres, but Read ended up playing, with Akeson thus made a healthy scratch by the team.
