Bryzgalov was placed on unconditional waivers by the Ducks on Thursday for the purpose of his release, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Bryzgalov was placed on traditional waivers over the weekend after going 1-4-1 with a 4.19 GAA and .847 save percentage over his eight appearances with the Ducks. Though he was formally reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Tuesday, it appears Bryzgalov never had much of a desire to stay active in the minors while waiting for an opportunity with another club. It seems doubtful that he'll resurface again with another team this season, and with the goalie turning 35 in June, his NHL career might be finished.

Bryzgalov was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Tuesday, Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times reports. Bryzgalov's future became murky after he cleared waivers Monday, but it looks like he's decided to stick around with the organization for the time being. It appears that the Ducks are content to go with either John Gibson or Jason LaBarbera as their primary backup goalie once Frederik Andersen (upper body) returns, making Bryzgalov no better than No. 4 on the organizational goalie depth chart.

Bryzgalov cleared waivers on Monday, the LA Times reports. Bryzgalov will meet with the team's general manager Bob Murrary later on Monday to discuss his future, but he'll otherwise report to AHL Norfolk unless he and Murray reach a different conclusion.

Bryzgalov was placed on waivers by the Ducks on Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.Bryzgalov's placement on waivers likely signifies the impending return of Frederik Andersen, who is expected to return off injured reserve in the near future. It's possible the Ducks will want to keep Bryzgalov around for depth, but there is no guarantee he will be back with the team in the future.

Bryzgalov only faced eight shots Tuesday against the Panthers, but he was pulled after allowing his third goal early in the second period. What can we say? The guy just doesn't have it anymore. John Gibson didn't look good in relief, but that won't help Bryz much. Rolling him out in future starts -- if he even gets any -- is as risky as it gets.

Bryzgalov gave up two goals on 32 shots in Friday's shootout loss to the Capitals. While Bryzgalov played very well in the loss, he's been inconsistent this season. The 34-year-old is now 1-3-1 on the season with a .858 save percentage and 4.05 GAA. Although he helped the Ducks nab a point Friday, whenever Frederik Andersen does get another rare night off, we wouldn't advise you to put too much confidence into Bryzgalov turning out another strong performance. This is Bryz though, so you really don't know. We wouldn't worry too much about it, as the solar system is so humongous big and there are far bigger problems out there.

Bryzgalov will be between the pipes for Friday's game against the Capitals, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. With Frederik Andersen forced to make 44 saves a night earlier in Nashville, the Ducks will turn the net over to Bryzgalov for just the sixth time this season. It's probably only Bryz's sizable cap hit ($2.88 million) that's kept him around this long, as he's shown no signs of competence when called upon this season. He enters Friday's game with a woeful 4.68 GAA and .832 save percentage. Even an elite team like the Ducks haven't been able to cover for his immense weakness in goal.

Bryzgalov was ripped apart for six goals on 25 shots by the Sharks before being pulled from Thursday's loss. Sadly, all that happened in less than two periods. Frederik Andersen came in and stopped all eight shots in relief, and he should continue to occupy the net most nights after Bryz's second six-goal implosion in four starts this season.

Bryzgalov will start in net Thursday against the Sharks. Bryzgalov was the first goalie off at morning skate and was expected to receive the start, which is indeed the case. It's a rare outing for the veteran, but Frederik Andersen is expected to be back in net Friday against the Blackhawks.
