The Blue Jackets assigned St-Denis to AHL Springfield on Tuesday. St-Denis, who appeared in four games with the Blue Jackets after being recalled Nov. 3, will head back to Springfield to open up a roster spot for waiver claim Kevin Connauton.

St. Denis was recalled from AHL Springfield on Monday. The 28-year-old has one point and four penalty minutes in six AHL games this season. He's appeared in 17 career NHL games, all coming with the Canadiens during the 2011-12 campaign. H'ell likely provide little more than depth, as the Jackets placed defenseman Cody Goloubef (leg) on IR Monday.

Frederic St. Denis has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. St. Denis had nine goals and 26 points in 60 games with the AHL Springfield Falcons last season. The 28-year-old should strictly be regarded as an organizational depth defenseman.

Injuries to several of their defensemen have prompted the Columbus Blue Jackets to recall Frederic St. Denis from AHL Springfield.
