The NHL decided that Eric Nystrom won't get supplemental discipline for his hit on Daniel Briere from Saturday. The league believes that the contact was accidental. Nystrom has been a solid fit for the Nashville Predators, even if he only has two points in eight games. His penalty minute potential (16 so far this season) is solid, yet probably not enough for serious consideration considering his career numbers.

Other times he might be in a pure checking role playing head-to-head against some top players to get them off their game." Nystrom might push the 200-hit mark in 2013-14, but he shouldn't get much more than 20 points.

The Nashville Predators have signed Eric Nystrom to a four-year/$10 million contract. Nystrom played for the Dallas Stars the last two seasons, scoring seven goals and 11 points last season and 16 goals and 21 points the previous year. Do not expect Nystrom to score a lot with the Predators and since he'll be a bottom six forward, he'll have little to no fantasy value.

Eric Nystrom will not be disciplined by the NHL for his hit to the head of Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang in Wednesday night's contest. "They just said they had looked at it and there were no grounds for a suspension," GM Joe Nieuwendyk said. "It was just a hockey play, that's how I saw it." Nystrom received a two-minute penalty for roughing on the play, while Letang left the game and did not return. The Stars start a three-game road trip in Edmonton on Friday night and Nystrom will be with the team. He has collected 19 points and 137 hits in 59 games this campaign.
