Brewer (foot) is no longer in a walking boot, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Brewer may begin skating next week, but is still a ways off from returning to game action. Once Brewer starts skating, he'll need multiple practices and perhaps even a rehab assignment before an activation would be considered.

Brewer (foot) is no longer using crutches, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Brewer is now sporting a walking boot, which will still probably keep him off the ice for at least another week. Once he starts skating, he'll need multiple practices and quite possibly a rehab assignment before an activation would be considered.

Brewer (foot) is still considered week-to-week with his recovery, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Brewer continues to use crutches and may not be ready to play by early January as was initially projected. Although the Ducks' defense was ravaged by injuries at the time of Brewer's acquisition, the blue line should be back at close to full strength when he's finally activated from injured reserve.

Brewer (foot) was placed on injured reserve Thursday. With the Ducks adding the Colby Robak to their roster after he was acquired from the Panthers earlier in the day, Brewer was placed on IR to create room. Brewer, a recent acquisition himself, will likely remain out until January after fracturing a bone in his foot Monday night.

Brewer will miss four-to-six weeks after he was diagnosed with a broken bone in his foot, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. The Ducks might be experiencing some buyer's remorse after surrendering a third-round pick and only getting two games from Brewer, who was acquired from the Lightning last week. He'll now likely be out through the New Year, becoming yet another blueliner to fall victim to a long-term injury. His loss will be cushioned a little by the impending return of Clayton Stoner (mumps), who is set to play Wednesday night.

Brewer injured his foot in Monday's game against the Bruins, Janis Carr of the Orange County Register reports. Brewer was playing in just his second game with the Ducks before acquiring the injury, the severity of which remains unknown at this point. He'll undergo tests later Tuesday to reveal the full extent of the injury, but a potential long-term absence in the event of a fracture would be a crippling blow to the Ducks' blue line. After all, the injuries to Francois Beauchemin, Ben Lovejoy and Mark Fistric motivated the Ducks to give up a future third-round pick in return for Brewer in the first place.

Brewer was traded to the Ducks on Friday for a 2015 third-round draft pick, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. The Ducks were motivated to make a deal for a defenseman after Francois Beauchemin (broken finger) and Clayton Stoner (illness) both had their return dates pushed back for their respective ailments. Brewer hadn't been seeing much work lately with the Bolts, but the Ducks should have a regular role ready for him immediately upon his arrival. The 35-year-old has four points and 18 PIM over 17 games this season.

Brewer was in the lineup to start Monday's game against Montreal, according to Sportsnet One. Andrej Sustr was the healthy scratch. As expected, the Bolts seem to be rotating guys through that final D spot. Avoid him while he's in this type of situation -- it's hard to deliver fantasy value in sporadic use.

Brewer will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's season opener against the Panthers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. Brewer's role on the Tampa defense was already beginning to decline last season, as his 17:33 average time on ice was nearly three minutes less than he saw in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign. With Anton Stralman and Jason Garrison joining the Bolts' blue line in the offseason, Brewer looks like he could be a victim of a numbers game. Expect coach Jon Cooper to use a rotation of Brewer, Mark Barberio and Andrej Sustr as his sixth defenseman.

Eric Brewer potted a pair of goals to help the Bolts defeat the Blue Jackets 3-2 and inch closer to home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Brewer now has three goals in his past two games, after scoring just once in the first 74 games of the season. The big veteran blueliner has 17 points and is a plus 10 in 76 games this year.
