Stafford (upper body) will not accompany the team on its upcoming seven-game road trip, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old American has only played two games in 2018-19, failing to register a point in either contest. Staying back home in New Jersey means Stafford will miss the next seven games, all of which are road contests. Even when healthy, the veteran is not a legitimate fantasy option.

Stafford was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Stafford's injury necessitated the call-up of John Quenneville from AHL Binghamton. This news concerns the bottom-six group for the Devils -- it's unlikely that the vast majority of fantasy owners have been counting on either player early this season.

Stafford agreed to terms on a one-year, $810,000 contract with New Jersey on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Stafford -- who was with the team during training camp on a professional tryout -- gets his deal on the heels of the news that Jesper Bratt (jaw) would be out 2-3 weeks. The Milwaukee native's contract is a one-way, so how the club fits him in once Bratt is healthy remains to be seen.

Stafford didn't make the Devils' 23-man roster and will become a free agent, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old forward had a rough 2017-18 campaign with just 15 points in 59 games despite ample power-play minutes. He could look for a bottom-six role elsewhere, but rosters remain set at this time.

Stafford will join New Jersey at training camp on a professional tryout.
EDGE Analysis
Stafford played 59 games for the Devils last season, in which he tallied eight goals, seven assists and 102 shots. The biggest downside to the winger's game is the fact that he also managed a minus-20 rating, his second such campaign with a below 20 plus/minus. If the veteran can secure a permanent deal with the club, he may find himself watching from the press box as often as he is on the bench.

Stafford, who totaled eight goals and 15 points in 59 games with the Devils this campaign, will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
EDGE Analysis
Stafford has only produced 16 goals and 36 points in 117 games over the past two yrstd, so he's clearly slowing down with age. It remains to be seen if any NHL club will express interest in bringing the 32-year-old winger in on a short-term deal this offseason, but if not, he may decide to hang up his skates and call it a career after 12 seasons.

Stafford dished out a pair of helpers in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to San Jose.
EDGE Analysis
It was a night to forget for New Jersey, but Stafford excelled on a personal level by playing a part in both of his team's goals. The 32-year-old forward snapped a 14-game point drought with this effort while skating 16:10. That's the most ice time Stafford's seen in a game since playing 17:09 back on Jan. 23.

Stafford (lower body) will rejoin the lineup for Saturday's matchup against the Islanders, Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stafford skipped Thursday's contest against the Wild due to the lower-body ailment, but he returned to the ice sheet for morning skate Saturday and will draw back in. The 32-year-old winger will slot in alongside Miles Wood and Brian Boyle on the fourth line, though his return likely won't shake up many fantasy lineups.

Stafford will miss Thursday's home game against the Wild due to a lower-body injury, Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stafford has averaged 2:13 of ice time on the power play this season, recording four goals and one assist in that special teams spot, but coach John Hynes said his lineup as a whole will be a game-time decision. Unfortunately, this means that we won't know who will be replacing Stafford until pregame warmups, and it's also possible that the Devils will deploy an extra defenseman.

Stafford snagged a goal against the Flyers on Saturday, his first action following a seven-game stretch as a healthy scratch
EDGE Analysis
A 16-game pointless streak likely led to Stafford being bumped from the lineup, but appears to have capitalized on his opportunity. The winger worked his way to the front of the net and was able to beat Philadelphia's Brian Elliott for for his third power-play goal of the season. For now, the Wisconsin native may have earned back his spot; however, another slump could see him right back in the press box.
