Bolland (ankle) is expected to center the Panthers' third line this season, Harvey Fialkow of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. The five-year, $27.5 million contract the Panthers gave Bolland in the offseason seems like a steep overpay for a third-liner, especially for a player coming off a significant ankle injury. The Panthers have more talent on the wing than most believe, but the move from Toronto to South Florida likely won't dramatically jumpstart his production. That being said, he has shown the capability of producing around 40 points in the past, so a decent buy-low window could exist for him late in deep-league drafts.

Contract talks between Dave Bolland and the Leafs appear to be at a standstill. "Our position hasn't changed a whole heck of a lot," said Bolland's agent Anton. "At this time it's just not coming together. We can't force the Leafs to accept our terms." He earned $3.375 million last season and it's believed he's seeking a deal worth $5 million per year.

Dave Bolland is still trying to get his ankle and leg back to 100 percent. "I'm still working on it," he said. "It's getting my strength back in my thigh and my calf. I lost a lot of leg strength in my calf and thigh. It was all gone and I don't have that strength to take care of that ankle. Now, the ankle is fine, it's great. When the end of summer rolls around, I'll be 100 percent." He suited up in just 23 games last season after a tendon in his ankle was severed by a skate. Bolland, who can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, reiterated that his preference is to re-sign with Toronto and he wants to be with the Leafs until his career is done.

Toronto GM Dave Nonis is "hopeful" that the team will re-sign Dave Bolland. "There's work to do for sure," he said referring to negotiations with the pending unrestricted free agent. "Dave is a quality guy and a good player and brings a lot of the things we want to keep with our team. There's got to be a number that makes sense for both sides, and if there isn't, then he can go to free agency. But we're still in contact with Dave and our opinion of him hasn't changed." Bolland was limited to just 23 games in what could've been his only season with the Maple Leafs.

Dave Bolland's representatives and the Maple Leafs continue to talk contract. That's a good sign as the date on which potential UFAs hit the market is July 1st. Bolland reportedly wants a deal averaging $5 million per season, which may be a little rich for Toronto. However, the two-way pivot really wants to stay in Hogtown and may be willing to lower his demands. Stay tuned.

"I want to stay a Leaf but things always happen and being a UFA you have options to go out there and to explore the market but I want to be a Leaf," Bolland said. His first season with Toronto was largely lost due to an ankle injury, which he said feels great at this point. Toronto wants him back too, but the two sides might not see eye-to-eye on his worth. He reportedly wants $5 million annually and Toronto might balk at that price given his injury history.

Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan wants to re-sign Dave Bolland. "I'd like to get him signed," Shanahan said. "He's the type of player I like, the type of player we need. This is a guy we want to have back. Dave (Leafs GM Nonis) knows I want him back. But any time you are a UFA, there are other factors involved. He's got to want to play for us, as well." If Bolland is still seeking a new contract in the neighborhood of seven years at $5 million per season then he's unlikely stay in Toronto and he may not get many takers on the open market either at that price. Bolland missed most of the 2013-14 campaign after a skate sliced a tendon on the outside of his ankle.

Dave Bolland will not play in the Maple Leafs season finale against Ottawa Saturday night. His ankle is still bothering him and it looks like he will sit out the final game of a season in which he missed all but 23 games due to injury.

Dave Bolland (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's game. As previously reported, he hasn't completely recovered from the sliced tendon that's cost him most of the season. Those lingering problems are what's putting his availability into question now.

Dave Bolland didn't skate Monday, but he still could be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay. He hasn't returned to being 100 percent healthy from his sliced tendon on the outside of his left ankle because he aggravates the injury each game he has played. "He's not hurting himself," coach Randy Carlyle said. "It's just (with his) pain threshold he rolls his ankle and sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes to come back." Bolland played just 9:15 of ice time in Saturday's loss to Winnipeg.
