Hamhuis announced Thursday that he has chosen to retire from hockey.
EDGE Analysis
The timing is certainly interesting for Hamhuis after he failed to suit up in any postseason action for the Predators in the NHL's 'bubble.' The 37-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 16-year career in the NHL, however, spending time with Nashville, Vancouver and Dallas. A member of the elusive 1,000-game club, Hamhuis accumulated 52 goals and 330 points over his career. Although a staple on the back end chose to retire in a Predators uniform, the team has a bright future ahead of it with youngsters Dante Fabbro, Alexandre Carrier and David Farrance.

Hamhuis is a healthy scratch for Game 1 against Nashville.
EDGE Analysis
This doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Nashville was expected to rotate the bottom pairing of the blue line between Hamhuis, Korbinian Holzer, Yannick Weber and Jarred Tinordi. For Game 1, Weber and Tinordi got the nod.

Hamhuis (lower body) will be available for the Predators' play-in series against the Coyotes, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamhuis missed the final four games prior to the league shutdown due to his lower-body injury but appears to have used the time off to fully recover. With the veteran back in action, the final spot on the blue line could be a game-to-game decision by the coaching staff between Korbinian Holzer, Yannick Wever and Jarred Tinordi.

Hamhuis (lower body) won't play Saturday against Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
Hamhuis will miss a third straight game Saturday, and the Predators have yet to release an expected timetable for his return. Either way, there's no reason for fantasy owners to track his availability, as he's only notched eight points while averaging 14:31 of ice time in 60 games this campaign.

Hamhuis (lower body) isn't on the ice for warmups, indicating he won't suit up in Thursday's game against Dallas, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old will miss his second consecutive game while dealing with the lower-body issue. The specifics surrounding the injury remain unclear, as Hamhuis still doesn't have a clear timetable for a return. In his stead, Korbinian Holzer will draw into the lineup for the first time since he was acquired from Anaheim at the trade deadline.

Hamhuis (lower body) is day-to-day and will sit out of Tuesday's game versus the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
Hamhuis is a late scratch, and the team will deploy either Yannick Weber or Korbinian Holzer in his place on the third pairing. His next chance to enter the lineup will be Thursday's home matchup against Dallas.

Hamhuis notched his seventh assist of the season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year old Hamhuis is now in the twilight of his career, averaging his lowest-ever ice time at just 14:43 per game skating on the team's third defensive pairing. Now in the final year of a two-year, $2.5 million contract, Hamhuis will likely be looking for another team to play for next season as the Preds have a lot of young, up-and-coming defensemen who can join their ranks next year. He should not be on anyone's fantasy roster at this point.

Hamhuis (upper body) skated 17:18 in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
Hamhuis missed just one game after taking a puck to the face. He was forced to play more than his season average of 14:08 per game due to Ryan Ellis' upper-body injury early in the fist period. If Ellis is out long-term, Hamhuis may continue to see extra ice time.

Hamhuis (upper body) will play in Wednesday's Winter Classic against the Stars, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Less than a week after taking a puck to the face, Hamhuis will retake the ice outdoors. The 37-year-old is averaging 14:08 of ice time per game, and he's notched five points through 35 contests.

Hamhuis (upper body) is expected to play in Wednesday's game against the Stars, Adam Vingan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamhuis is a bottom-pairing player, and he wasn't initially slated to be ready for this contest after taking a puck to the face in last Friday's loss to Pittsburgh. However, he should be ready to rock for the Winter Classic. The 37-year-old isn't the concern of fantasy managers, though, as he's only notched five points over 35 games.
