Weise (suspension) is back with his team Thursday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weise has served his three-game ban for last week's illegal check to the head of Ducks defenseman Korbinian Holzer. In a corresponding move, the Flyers sent Taylor Leier to the minors. Weise has limited fantasy utility as a bottom-six forward still looking for his first point this season.

Weise received a three-game ban for an illegal check to the head, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Department of Player Safety determined Weise's check was illegal because he made Korbinian Holzer's head the main point of contact. The suspension rules the winger out until Oct. 27 against the Coyotes. Although the 28-year-old is averaging 2:33 of power-play ice time per night, he has yet to tally a point this season. During Weise's ban, Nick Cousins is the most likely candidate to move up to the second line.

Weise will hear from the NHL's Department of Player Safety Friday morning as the result of his illegal check to the head on Korbinian Holzer of the Ducks in Thursday's game.
EDGE Analysis
The powers that be among the player safety division will decide whether a suspension is warranted. It likely doesn't help Weise's case that he left his feet while laying into Holzer, but then again, no penalty was called on the play.

Weise signed a four-year, $9.4 million contract with the Flyers on Friday, Bob McKenzie of The Hockey Insider reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weise is coming off a resurgent season in Montreal where he spent a career-high 14:21 on the ice over 56 appearances. In Philadelphia, he'll have an opportunity for similar playing time as he splits responsibilities at right wing with Wayne Simmonds and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

Weise (personal) will debut with the Blackhawks on Thursday, Eric Lear of Blackhawks TV reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weise was dealing with some visa issues following the move from a Canadian club (Montreal) to an American one (Chicago), but it appears he's received clearance and will be good to go moving forward. He'll replace Richard Panik in the lineup Thursday, likely as the right wing on the team's fourth line. While he'll be around a more talented club in general the rest of the way, the veteran should also see a drop in ice time in his new role. It seems likely he won't be counted on to produce offensively as often, so it's quite possible he won't score as many points over the last month of the campaign.

Weise will not play Wednesday, but is expected to debut with the Blackhawks on Thursday against the Bruins, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weise is dealing with some visa issues, but it sounds like it's nearly cleared up and he should be good to go the rest of the way. The winger should slot into a bottom-six role with the Blackhawks, so he may see a decline in ice time, but he'll also play with a more talented lineup on a nightly basis.

Weise was traded to the Blackhawks on Friday along with Tomas Fleischmann. In return, the Canadiens will receive Phillip Denault and a second-round draft selection in 2018.
EDGE Analysis
As icing on the cake for the Blackhawks, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports that the Canadiens have agreed to retain 30 percent of Weise's salary. Stan Bowman, general manager of the Blackhawks, has is loading up on established forwards ahead of the Feb.29 trade deadline. The team brought Andrew Ladd on back to Chicago on Thursday night, and now two more forwards pack their bags for the Windy City. Weise isn't a flashy player but he plays with a lot of heart and brings some size to the lineup at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. His fantasy stock could also trend upwards as the Blackhawks are absolutely chocked full of offensive talent.

Weise returned to the lineup Wednesday and had an assist in 14:18 TOI in a 4-3 win over the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Weise had returned from a one-game absence due to the flu just in time to showcase himself for other teams at the Feb. 29 trade deadline. He's had four points in the past four games and is a likely headed to another team. He's been used as a top-six forward during his stay with Montreal, leading to 24 goals and 55 points in 135 games. If Weise is traded, those top-six opportunities may not be there for him on another team.

Weise (illness) will rejoin the lineup Wednesday against the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Weise will end up missing just one game becuase of the issue, and the veteran's return will be surprisingly useful for the Canadiens. While the veteran owns just four points in February (three goals), three of them came in the three games before the injury. However, the winger also played third-line minutes before the issue and wasn't seeing much ice time on the power play. Assuming Weise slots back into the same role, there won't be a ton of upside for him.

Weise (illness) will travel with his team to Washington for Wednesday's game against the Capitals, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's encouraging that Weise is making the trip, but doesn't necessarily mean he'll be fit to play. Look for the team to shed more light on his availability closer to puck drop Wednesday. One thing is for sure, the Habs certainly need the well-rounded veteran against a Capitals team that comfortably sits atop the league standings.
