Robak was let go Monday by the Flames following his tryout.
EDGE Analysis
Robak, selected 46th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft, has not suited up for an NHL game since the 2014-15 campaign in which he made 12 appearances split between the Ducks and the Panthers. Last year with AHL Rochester, the blueliner tallied five goals and 15 helpers, but was a minus-17, which was likely a concern for Calgary and should be a red flag for fantasy owners if he find himself a new home.

Robak cleared waivers Friday and was assigned to AHL Norfolk, Elliot Teaford of the Low Angeles News Group reports. Robak was placed on waivers in a precursor move to the Ducks activating Eric Brewer off injured reserve. The team traded for him in early December, sending Jesse Blacker and a conditional pick to the Panthers, but it appears the defenseman hasn't lived up to expectations (playing in just five games with the Ducks and posting one point). He will now head to the AHL and await another opportunity.

Robak was placed on waivers Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. His placement on waivers is likely connected to the impending return of blueliner Eric Brewer, who is finally healthy after suffering a broken foot back on Dec. 1. Robak had appeared in just one game since Dec. 19, spending most of his stay with the Ducks as a healthy scratch. Expect him to report to AHL Norfolk once he clears waivers.

Robak picked up an assist, three hits and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's win over the Flames. Robak played in his first game since Dec. 19, as Clayton Stoner's late scratch due to a lower-body injury forced him into the lineup. Assuming Stoner's injury isn't overly serious, Robak doesn't look like he'll get much sustained run in the Anaheim lineup. In fact, he could even be bound for the minors soon, as the Ducks figure to have Eric Brewer (broken foot) back on the blue line shortly after the All-Star break.

Robak was traded to the Ducks on Thursday in exchange for Jesse Blacker and a conditional draft pick. Robak hadn't been seeing much playing time for the Panthers, failing to record a point over seven games so far in 2014-15. With the Ducks dealing with several injuries at the position, the 24-year-old Robak may see an opportunity to land a role on the third defensive pairing, and should continue to provide depth as the remaining defensemen return to health.

Robak will be in the lineup Monday against the Wild, Steve Goldstein of FOX Sports reports. Robak has made just six appearances for Florida this season, and so it seems that he'll likely have a minor role in Monday's game against the Wild as he comes off the bench with the fourth line.

With Dmitry Kulikov's status unknown for Tuesday's game because of a knee injury, Florida had Robak practicing with Brian Campbell on defence Monday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports. Robak has only played in two games this season registering no points and only two shots on goal. Depending on the extent of Kulikov's injury, Robak could find himself in a regular role on defence for the time being. Playing with Brian Campbell on the second defence pairing could also see his minutes played around the 18 minute mark per game but chances of him seeing the power play are slim because of the other options on defence.

Colby Robak has cleared waivers and been sent to the minors. Robak had an assist in 16 games with Florida last season. The signing of Ryan Whitney has knocked him down in the organizational depth charts, but he might still end up being summoned as the season progresses.
