Veteran right winger Colby Armstrong has taken his talents to Sweden. After eight seasons bouncing around the NHL, Armstrong has signed with the Swedish Hockey League's Vaxjo Lakers starting this fall, the former Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens forward announced Saturday via Twitter. Having been bought out by the Leafs last summer, and with no suitors as a free agent this off-season, the 30-year-old winger is going to try his luck in Europe. Armstrong was drafted 21st overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2001 NHL draft. He played for four NHL clubs -- the Penguins, Atlanta Thrashers, Leafs and Canadiens -- over a 476-game career, tallying a total of 209 points.

Colby Armstrong doesn't know if he'll be back with the Canadiens, but he enjoyed his time in Montreal during the lockout-shortened season. "I loved Montreal. There's a great group of guys here," he said. "My family and I loved this city. Being a part of this team was an incredible experience." He is eligible for unrestricted free agency next month if he doesn't re-sign with Montreal. Armstrong is always well-liked by his teammates, but he shouldn't be counted on in any fantasy format.

Max Pacioretty told the Montreal Gazette's Dave Stubbs that he wants the Habs to retain Colby Armstrong, calling him a "hero" for his leadership and presence this season. Though he has displayed some decent scoring ability in his career, Armstrong has turned into a into a bottom-six role player whose contributions aren't often seen in the score sheet; he had only two goals and three assists this season. He was bought out by the Leafs prior to this season with a $3 million deal and inked a $1 million contract with the Habs.

Colby Armstrong (knee) has declared himself fit to play. He skated on the fourth line, with Jeff Halpern and Brandon Prust, during Monday's practice and said he felt good in the team's battle drills. "I'm good to go, he said. "Hopefully I'm in." It appears to be probable that he'll suit up against New Jersey on Tuesday night, but he doesn't have any fantasy value.

Colby Armstrong is listed as probable for Saturday night's game against the Capitals. He has been nursing a knee injury that has sidelined him for nine games. Armstrong is a very effective NHL player but not much of a fantasy one. We suspect his pending return to action is not big news in your hockey pool.

Colby Armstrong (lower body) won't travel with the Montreal Canadiens to Philadelphia for Wednesday's game. Armstrong left Monday's game after colliding with Carolina's Patrick Dwyer during the third period. The Canadiens are back home for Thursday's game against Winnipeg and we should know more then. Ryan White is traveling with the Habs for Wednesday's game against the Flyers.
