After being a healthy scratch for the last two games, Atkinson will replace Bobby Brink in the lineup . The 34-year-old Atkinson hasn't picked up a point in his past 15 outings, managing only 22 shots on goal during that span. The former 41-goal scorer has only 13 tallies and 15 assists in 62 appearances this season.

Atkinson scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning.

Both points came in the second period as the Flyers tried in vain to mount a comeback from an early 3-0 deficit. Atkinson extended his point streak to six games in the process, a stretch during which the 34-year-old winger has produced five goals and 10 points. While his current form makes him worth a roster spot in almost any fantasy format, he should be viewed as a short-term plug-in and not a long-term roster solution.

The veteran winger did his best to rally his team from a 5-2 deficit heading into the second intermission. Atkinson helped set up Tyson Foerster for a tally early in the third period before tipping home a Rasmus Ristolainen point shot a few minutes later, but that was as close as the Flyers got to tying things up. Atkinson is heating up, producing a four-game point streak in which he's racked up four goals and seven points, but on the season he's managed just 12 goals and 25 points in 45 contests.

Atkinson scored twice Saturday in a 2-0 win over the Jets.

It was a statement game for Atkinson, who was a healthy scratch Thursday. His first goal, which was a redirection of Ryan Poehling's shot, was his first goal since Nov. 11. It ended a 26-game goal drought. Atkinson collected a rebound in the low slot on an early second-period power play and tucked it behind Connor Hellebuyck. Fingers crossed the carryover from his healthy scratch lasts a few more games.

Atkinson was a healthy scratch Thursday as coach John Tortorella was not pleased with his game over the last six weeks. Atkinson has eight goals, 10 assists and 113 shots on goal in 37 games this season, but he had only five assists in his past 20 games before the benching. Look for him to return to the second line alongside Morgan Frost and Tyson Foerster.

Atkinson will probably draw back into the lineup Saturday versus Calgary, but in the meantime, Rhett Gardner will make his Flyers debut Thursday.

Overall, Atkinson has 15 points, 81 shots on net and a minus-8 rating through 26 appearances.
