Allen was assigned to AHL Hamilton on Thursday. The assignment is hardly a surprise, as Allen has played in just five games with the Canadiens this season, and hasn't played since being activated from injured reserve on December 23rd.

Allen will be placed on waivers by the Canadiens on Monday, Marc Antoine Godin of La Presse reports. Allen has played in just five games with the Canadiens, and hasn't played since being activated from injured reserve Dec. 23. The team reportedly acquired him to offset the salary of Rene Bourque, who was waived by the Canadiens in November and later traded to the Ducks.

Allen (illness) was activated from injured reserve Monday. Allen has been over his bout with the flu for at least a week, but the Canadiens simply haven't needed his services yet. It looks like holding down a regular role with Montreal could be hard to come by for the veteran blueliner.

Allen has recovered from the flu and resumed skating Monday, the Montreal Gazette reports. Allen skated on the fourth defensive pairing during practice suggesting he will not be active for Tuesday night's game against the Hurricanes.

Allen (illness) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Allen had been a healthy scratch over the Habs' previous two games, so the move to IR won't do much to change his situation. He'll be eligible for activation ahead of Friday's game versus the Kings.

Allen (illness) did not practice with the team Monday. Allen has the flu, and could miss Tuesday's matchup with the Canucks. The blueliner has two points through 11 games so far this season.

Allen made his Montreal debut in Saturday night's win over Boston. He rotated on the third defensive pairing, playing a total of 14:30 in the win. Head coach Michel Therrien has been dressing seven defensemen of late, which has resulted in fewer than normal minutes for all of the blue-liners. That's something that can pay dividends over the long haul for older rear-guards like Sergei Gonchar (17:28) and Anrei Markov (18:44).

Allen will be active for Saturday night's game in Boston, Hockey Inside Out reports. Allen, who was acquired from Anaheim on Thursday, took part in Saturday's morning skate, paired with Mike Weaver.

Allen was traded to the Canadiens on Thursday in exchange for forward Rene Bourque. Allen becomes the second addition the Habs have made to their blue line in the last two weeks, after the team acquired Sergei Gonchar from the Stars via trade Nov. 11. The 34-year-old, who appeared in six games with the Ducks, doesn't have much offensive ability in his arsenal, but he's been quite reliable in his own zone over his career. He's in the final season of a three-year, $10.5 million contract, so he'll just amount to a rental player for the Habs.

Allen (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Friday. The move verifies that Allen will return to the lineup Friday against the Coyotes, as was expected after he practiced fully Thursday. The blueliner contributed 10 points to go along with a plus-20 rating over 68 games last season.
