Brian Campbell scored his seventh goal of the season in Florida's 3-1 win over the Rangers Tuesday. The power play specialist buried his sixth goal of the season with the man advantage in the rare victory for the struggling Panthers. Scottie Upshall and Tomas Kopecky also found the back of the net in the Florida victory.

Brian Campbell scored a goal and added an assist for the Panthers in a 4-3 shootout loss to Buffalo Thursday. Campbell is well on his way to posting another productive campaign, though his value is much higher in points-only leagues than formats where his deficiencies in penalty minutes and plus/minus are counted. Marcel Goc also picked up a goal and an assist in the loss while Drew Shore scored his second goal of the season in the loss.

Brian Campbell is the only Florida Panther with more than one power-play goal this season, with four, but he hasn't scored since Feb. 3 at Buffalo. The Cats' toothless power play has gone 0-for-15 during their five-game losing streak. "Some good things happened early on in the season and now we've hit a dry spell, but it comes down to a few things that we need to fix," Campbell said. "Simplify and outwork the penalty killers, and we can be successful. We know we have the personnel to do it. We just have to work hard in the right way - not trying to do too much out there, not trying to make a play that you may have a 10 percent chance of making." Campbell has eight points and a minus-9 rating in 15 games this season.

Brian Campbell netted the game-winning goal in Florida's 4-3 victory Sunday. Campbell now has four goals and six points in eight games this season. Playing for Florida has been great for him and he should finish the season as one of the league's top blueliners in points.

Brian Campbell received a two-minute penalty for holding in Tuesday's loss to Montreal. The penalty proved to be costly when Stephen Weiss put the Panthers down two men 20 seconds later when he closed his hand on the puck and Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov scored the first of his two goals on the night. Campbell's infraction is also worth noting because he earned just six minutes in the sin bin over 82 games last season en route to the Lady Byng Trophy. The Florida blueliner has recorded two power-play goals and one assist in three games this campaign.

Brian Campbell is staying even-keeled as the NHL labor talks reach a critical point. The Panthers defensemen refuses to get too up or too down based on the day's negotiations. It's probably the smartest way to be considering the nature of these talks, with one day offering promise and the next quieting that optimism. "Yeah, I don't know. I don't want to get too far ahead," Campbell said. "I've gotten caught up in that, personally, thinking something's going to happen. It's just kind of wait-and-see."

Brian Campbell knows that the NHL and union is running out of time if they want the season to start as scheduled. "If we want to get this season started on time it's probably getting to the next five days it has to be done," Campbell said. "Hopefully they can move forward and talk about a few other ideas and then get into the core stuff and get it figured out." It's hard to believe that the season can start on time even if we get a new CBA in the next five days, but no regular season games have been canceled yet. The two sides met on Friday, but didn't discuss the core economic issues.

Brian Campbell of the Florida Panthers became only the third defenseman in NHL history to win the Lady Byng Trophy on Wednesday night. Campbell was the first defenseman to win the award, which is awarded to player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability, since 1954. Campbell had four goals and 49 assists this season while playing in all 82 games during his first season with the Panthers. Despite logging the minutes of a No. 1 defender, Campbell only had six penalty minutes -- the second season in a row he was under 10 penalty minutes for the season.

Brian Campbell will attempt to become just the third defenseman and the first since 1954 to win the Lady Byng Trophy on Wednesday night at the NHL Awards. "I think everyone knows no [defenseman] has won it since 1954," said Campbell. "I think that makes it even bigger if you get a chance to win it. That would be huge. Not many people can say they've done that in their career." The Florida defender logged a total of 2,354 shifts and averaged 26:53 of ice time per game during the regular season, but he was whistled for just three minor penalties while playing in all 82 games.

Brian Campbell had a goal and five points in seven postseason contests. Acquiring Campbell over the summer from the Chicago Blackhawks proved to be a great move for Florida. Campbell excelled in the regular season with 53 points and he didn't slow down in the playoffs. He should continue to play a huge role for the Panthers in 2012-13.
