The Minnesota Wild have acquired Brad Winchester from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Brian Connelly. Winchester will provide the Wild with a viable bottom-six forward to use should the team start to deal with mounting injuries. The 32-year-old has 68 points and 552 penalty minutes in 390 career NHL games, although he hasn't played at that level since the 2011-12 campaign.

The Calgary Flam es have signed Brad Winchester to a professional tryout. Winchester was an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after playing last season with San Jose where he potted six goals and had 10 points. He is a fourth line player who plays all out. "Given the body of work that he has had in his career . . . he's a big guy and he's a hard guy to play against," GM Jay Feaster said. "He's a tenacious guy on the forecheck. We thought he did a real good job last season in San Jose, for example. We just felt that because he was willing to come in on a tryout basis, it's a free look for us. We'll see where it goes." Winchester had 88 penalty minutes last season and the Flames could use a replacement for Tom Kostopolous who filled that role last season.

Brad Winchester is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Winchester had six goals and 10 points this season after being signed by the Sharks as a UFA in the off-season. He played for the Ducks in the previous season and signed a pro tryout last off-season with the Sharks. Look for him to probably re-sign with San Jose next season.

Former Blues forward Brad Winchester may get the chance to play against his old team on Thursday night in Game 4. He skated on the fourth line at practice Wednesday with Andrew Desjardins and Tommy Wingels. If he plays then it will mark his first contest of these playoffs and the first time he has suited up since Mar. 19 dating back to regular season. Winchester would add some physicality to the team's bottom six.

GM Doug Wilson said that contract negotiations with Brad Winchester will wait until after the season. Winchester came to training camp on a professional tryout and played well enough to receive a $725,000 one year contract. He has six goals and 10 points with 77 penalty minutes this season and has the respect of his teammates due to his willingness to stand up for his team. He has value in fantasy pools in the penalty minute category and chips in enough offensively to be taken in deep pools.

Brad Winchester, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, would like to re-sign with the San Jose Sharks. I hope so. I love San Jose. It's a fantastic organization," Winchester said. He attended the Sharks training camp on a tryout basis and earned a one-year contract. He has 10 points and 77 penalty minutes in 58 games this season.

Brad Winchester notched a goal 3:10 into the game, but that would be all the scoring the San Jose Sharks would get as they fell 4-1 to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. The winger's goal was just his sixth and ninth point of the season, and as an enforcer-type, he plays a handful of minutes a night, so he's got no reason to be owned in fantasy leagues. Andrew Desjardins and Dan Boyle had the helpers on the goal.
