Brad Winchester scored his third goal of the season on Thursday. Winchester was moved to the top line during practice on Wednesday and he also played alongside Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. He has definite fantasy value if he remains there in place of Patrick Marleau who skated on the third line Thursday.

Brad Winchester skated alongside Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski during the Sharks' practice on Wednesday. Sharks coach Todd McLellan wouldn't confirm that Winchester would play on that line Thursday, but it seems likely. That makes Winchester worth keeping an eye on, although his fantasy value is still limited. Winchester has just four points in 24 games and the 30-year-old has never recorded more than 21 points in a single season.

Brad Winchester was given a maintenance day off on Friday. Just an FYI. Winchester had only one assist in 15 games before Thursday but a goal and an assist against the Red Wings tripled his point count and likely gave him Friday off. He has no real fantasy value.

Brad Winchester has signed a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks Monday. "We feel that our training camp was as competitive as it ever has been and Brad came into it and earned a spot on our roster," stated Sharks GM Doug Wilson. "He brings a rugged, veteran presence to our lineup and he does whatever it takes to be a good teammate." Winchester will play on the fourth line when he's not a healthy scratch.

Brad Winchester will attend the San Jose Sharks' training camp on a tryout basis. Winchester had 16 points and 114 penalty minutes in 76 games with the St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks last season. He might make the Sharks opening game roster as a fourth liner.

Brad Winchester will not be offered a new contract by the Anaheim Ducks. Winchester is a bottom six forward in the NHL and will provide toughness for his next NHL team as he cracked the 100 penalty minute barrier for the second straight year in 2010-11. He also chipped in with 10 goals and 16 points so he has some value in deep pools.
