Alberts has no intention to resume his playing career after he continues to deal with the effects of a concussion suffered Dec. 29, 2013, Sporstnet.ca reports.Thirteen months after sustaining the head injury, Alberts said he's first starting to experience some relief from the headaches, but doesn't want to put his long-term health at risk by returning to professional hockey. He had previously aimed to return to the ice last spring after noticing improvement in his condition, only to suffer a setback shortly thereafter. The 33-year-old defenseman will end his career with 55 points over 459 NHL games spent with the Bruins, Flyers, Hurricanes, and Canucks.

Andrew Alberts (concussion) is still getting headaches on a daily basis and his NHL career may be over. Alberts suffered the concussion on December 29 when he was hit high by the Flames Brian McGrattan and while he was headache-free for a couple of days in April, the headaches have returned. Alberts becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and at age 33, his career could be over.

Andrew Alberts (concussion) has been headache-free for a couple of days. This is good news as Alberts suffered his concussion on December 29th and has not played since. He has tried skating a couple of times but has had a recurrence of the symptoms and has been forced to shut it down again. "Health is No. 1 right now. I'm not 22 trying to get back into a game. I'm 33 years old," Alberts said. "I'd like to play again. Absolutely, I'd like to. But No. 1, I'd just like to get healthy. Dealing with headaches every day is not something you want to live with." Alberts suffered a concussion early in his career and said he came back too soon so he is taking no chances at this time. Stay tuned.

Andrew Albert is not close to returning to action after suffering a concussion on December 29. Coach John Tortorella said that Alberts was 'aways away' from returning and that is not a good sign almost two months after he received a high hit from Calgary's Brian McGrattan. Consider the defenseman out indefinitely.

Andrew Alberts (concussion) didn't skate Thursday. "Andrew Alberts is still aways away," said coach John Tortorella. "We'll continue to evaluate him but he's nowhere near where these other guys are. So he's staying away just trying to get himself straight." Alberts suffered a concussion on Dec. 29 in Calgary.

Andrew Alberts will draw into the lineup Thursday for injured rearguard Ryan Stanton. He has skated in just six games this season and his last appearance came on Dec. 9. Alberts doesn't have any fantasy value.

Andrew Alberts will suit up for the first time since Oct. 24 on Friday night. He has appeared in just three games this season and two of them have come at forward. Alberts will probably be used sparingly against Phoenix. He's getting the chance to play because of Alexander Edler's lower-body injury.

Andrew Alberts and Yannick Weber were healthy scratches Sunday. Just an FYI. Neither has any fantasy value at this time.

Andrew Alberts believes he can fit better into Vancouver's lineup with John Tortorella behind the bench. "I think I can play an aggressive game under Torts' style," Alberts said. "I think it's a system I can play more minutes in." Alberts who re-signed with the Canucks last week will be competing with Yannick Weber and Frank Corrado for the team's last defense spot.
