It was Lindback's first start since November 28, and he struggled mightily. The loss was the Coyotes' fourth straight to start their five game road trip, so expect Mike Smith to be back in net Tuesday when they face the Blues.

Lindback has three wins in eight games this season, two of which have been against the Senators. Unfortunately for the Swede, he won't be able to face the Sens every game and this was a rare start anyhow, given that Mike Smith is the regular puck plugger for Arizona.

Mike Smith got the start Friday against Calgary, allowing one goal on 26 shots to earn his third straight win. The Coyotes will give Smith a well-deserved breather Saturday and turn to Lindback, who has allowed at least three goals in each of his last three outings. Lindback is 2-4-0 with a 2.52 GAA and .909 save percentage for the season.

Lindback made 20 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Jets on Saturday night. He has just one win in his last four starts.

EDGE Analysis

The severity of Mike Smith's injury is not known, so Lindback could be in line for more starts. But he has allowed 10 goals in his last three starts. His mates are good, but he needs to brick things up a little better to become a viable fantasy asset.

Lindback is expected to start between the pipes Saturday night against the Jets since goalie teammate Mike Smith is dealing with a lower-body injury, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Smith is officially listed as questionable for the road contest, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Coyotes go the safe route and play Lindback instead. Lindback has a 2-3-0 record, 2.41 GAA and .915 save percentage through three starts and six appearances in all.

Lindback was roughed up for four goals on 31 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Islanders on Monday. The fifth was an empty-netter.

EDGE Analysis

Lindback failed to impress in his sixth appearance of the season, getting torched for three goals in the third period. Although veteran starter Mike Smith has been pretty bad with a 3.10 GAA and .901 save percentage through 15 appearances, Lindback still figures to be a distant second fiddle between the pipes in the desert unless he's able to get hot and string together consecutive strong outings.

Lindback has received the starting nod for Monday's tilt with the Islanders, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

The giant Swede has been fantastic in five appearances this season, posting a 1.99 goals against average and a .928 save percentage. Lindback showed great promise playing as Pekka Rinne's backup in Nashville during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, but regressed after being traded to Tampa prior to the 2012-13 season. Lindback looks to have been revitalized in Arizona playing under head coach Dave Tippett's tight-checking system, and on Monday faces a team that has scored just 2.00 goals per game over their last seven.

Lindback turned aside 33 of 36 shots in Monday's win over the Ducks.

EDGE Analysis

It was just Lindback's second start of the year, but he's now won both of them and stopped more than 30 shots in each. He's played admirably when called upon in relief, and given Mike Smith struggling to the tune of a 3.22 GAA, he could factor into the rotation a bit more often going forward.
