Kelly reached agreement on a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Wednesday, ESPN reports. Kelly was released by the Patriots last week after previously being a candidate to start for them at defensive tackle. With the Cardinals needing more strength up front in wake of Darnell Dockett's torn ACL, Kelly will represent an experienced, steady presence on Arizona's defensive line.

Kelly has been released by the Patriots, the Boston Globe reports. The move was something of a surprise, as Kelly was expected to start at defensive tackle for the Patriots along with Vince Wilfork Assuming his health, Kelly -- whose 2013 season was cut short by a knee injury -- should get a shot to bolster another team's defensive line interior.

Tommy Kelly was on the field in pads during the Patriots' practice Saturday morning. The veteran defensive lineman started camp on the active/PUP list, but was quickly activated. Set to make only $1.85 million this season, Kelly could be an affordable depth piece along the Pats' defensive line.

Patriots DT Tommy Kelly (ACL) is participating in this week's minicamp. "I feel fine, it's just getting back to making moves and knocking the rust off," Kelly said Tuesday. "I'm not too worried about my knee." Although he's signed for an affordable $1.85 million, the 33-year-old Kelly won't be assured of cracking the 53-man roster as defensive-line depth.

Patriots DT Tommy Kelly restructured his contract, clearing $800,000 in salary cap space. He's now on a one-year, $1.85 million deal with another $645,000 available through playing-time incentives. We're a bit surprised Kelly wasn't simply released outright. He is 33 years old and tore his right ACL in Week 5 last year. Kelly only has $100,000 guaranteed, so he won't be assured a roster spot.

Patriots DT Tommy Kelly's Week 5 knee injury was a torn right ACL. It's interesting because Kelly told reporters after Week 5 that "everything is alright" with the knee. And he never played again. Losing Kelly and NT Vince Wilfork (Achilles') were huge in-season blows to a New England defense that wound up finishing 30th versus the run. Now owed $2.5 million in salary and bonuses at age 33, Kelly is a prime candidate for offseason release.

Patriots placed DT Tommy Kelly on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season. Kelly had missed the last three games due to the injury and wasn't close to returning despite attempting to practice on a limited basis this week. With Vince Wilfork already out for the year, his loss leaves New England without both of their starting defensive tackles for the rest of the season. The Patriots will now go with a rotation of Isaac Sopoaga, Chris Jones, and Joe Vellano. OL Josh Kline has been promoted from the practice squad to replace Kelly on the active roster.

Patriots DT Tommy Kelly (knee) has been ruled out for Week 9. New England's run defense has fallen to No. 31 in the league's rankings with Kelly, Vince Wilfork, and Jerod Mayo out. Le'Veon Bell is up next.

Patriots DT Tommy Kelly (knee) has been ruled out for Week 6. As has RB/KR Leon Washington (ankle). Kelly's absence means New England will be minus both starting defensive tackles after Vince Wilfork fell victim to a torn Achilles' tendon in Week 4. Expect lots of "Crazy Joe" Vellano.

Patriots DT Tommy Kelly (knee) missed practice again Friday and is not expected to play Sunday against the Saints. It's a big loss, considering the Patriots already lost Vince Wilfork (Achilles') for the season last week. The Patriots will be forced to go with a combination of Joe Vellano, Chris Jones, and Andre Neblett at defensive tackle.
