Wright signed a contract with the Chiefs on Friday, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Wright hasn't appeared in a game in two seasons, the former college wideout was a modestly effective receiver during his first three years in the league, when he caught a total of 13 touchdowns in 41 games for the Buccaneers, Patriots, and Lions. However, he'll face heavy competition for a roster spot in Kansas City, as Demetrius Harris, Orson Charles and Jace Amaro will all jostle with him for slotting on the depth chart under the established Travis Kelce.

Wright was released by the Lions on Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Lions re-signed Wright earlier this month after he completed his recovery from a torn ACL, but the tight end didn't distinguish himself enough in practices or preseason contests to seriously enter the conversation for a roster spot. With Wright out of the picture, the Lions will have more reps available in the preseason finale for the likes of Michael Roberts and Robert Tonyan, who are competing for depth roles behind the team's top two options at the position, Eric Ebron and Darren Fells.

Wright caught all three of his targets for 24 yards during Friday's preseason loss to the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
Wright was the Lions' most productive tight end in the passing game Friday, though he did benefit from Eric Ebron's (hamstring) absence and Cole Wick's (chest) departure. More importantly, he seems to be back to his pre-injury form after tearing his ACL in spring workouts last year. If Wick is ultimately sidelined for a long period of time, Wright just might make the team.

Wright sat out Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed injury, Mike Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright joined injured fellow tight ends Eric Ebron (hamstring) and Cole Wick (undisclosed) on the sideline. The Rutgers product is competing with Wick, Darren Fells, and rookie Michael Roberts to back up presumed starter Ebron.

Wright (knee) signed a contract with the Lions on Wednesday, Michael Stets of NewsTalk 760 AM WJR reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright was out of the NFL in 2016 after suffering a torn ACL during the Lions' offseason program last May, resulting in his release. With the tight end apparently having returned to full health following the year-plus layoff, the Lions will give him another look and see if he can offer an upgrade over some of their other depth options at the position. During his last NFL season in 2015, Wright appeared in nine games for Detroit, logging nine catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Wright sustained a torn ACL during the Lions' offseason program, which spurred the team to release him Thursday, The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
After clearing waivers Tuesday, the Lions placed the tight end on injured reserve, thus retaining his rights while he spends the next year or so in rehabilitation. In three professional seasons with a trio of organizations, the hybrid wideout/tight end has totaled 89 catches (on 125 targets) for 907 yards and 13 touchdowns in 41 games.

Wright has re-signed with the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Wright joined the Lions via trade from the Buccaneers last season, when he finished with nine catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns in nine games for Detroit. Although Eric Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew are ahead of him at tight end, Wright's red zone prowess gives the Lions good depth at the position.

Wright hauled in a nine-yard touchdown on his lone target of the Lions' win over the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Wright opened the scoring early in the first quarter, working out of right slot and slipping behind the coverage. It was Wright's first catch since Week 7 and he had seen just one target over the eight games in between. Wright is a restricted free agent and, given how seldomly he was used, it would not be a surprise if the Lions let him walk. Wright recorded 80 catches and 11 touchdowns combined in 2013 and 2014, and should find a home quickly as a flex tight end if he does not return to Detroit.

Wright is inactive Sunday against the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
With Brandon Pettigrew back in action this week to work with fellow tight end Eric Ebron, Wright is the odd man out at the position for the Lions on Sunday.

Wrigth caught one pass off of one target for 13 yards in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
In Eric Ebron's return to the lineup on Sunday Wright was on the field for just four offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, and stayed in as a blocker on three of those plays. New offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter has worked on offensive staffs in Indianapolis and Denver that have used multiple tight ends, so there may be hope for Wright - but one would be advised to see it before believing it.
