Broyles was waived by the Lions on Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Broyles actually requested his release Saturday and the Lions obliged just a couple days afterwards in an attempt to cut down their roster. The wide receiver is now free to sign with another team, although he's only managed to record 10 total catches over the past two seasons and most likely will only provide depth wherever he ends up.

Broyles is likely down to final chance with Lions come the 2015 season, the Detroit Free Press reports. Though he was healthy for the first time in his career, Broyles appeared in just five games with only two catches for 25 yards. Lions GM Martin Mayhew made the point that Broyles will be a year removed from his ruptered Achilles tendon injury entering training camp so he may be a bit faster- which he will probably need to make the Lions roster for the 2015 season.

Broyles finished the regular seasons with two catches for 25 yards on five targets. Broyles finished the season fifth on the depth chart, and he wasn't active for any games in November or December. He did make it through the season without a significant injury, after suffering major lower-body injuries in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Broyles has one year remaining on his rookie contract, but it's hard to imagine him making an impact in Detroit, as the team has no shortage of talented pass-catchers. Assuming he's makes it to training camp with the Lions, Broyles may need to stave off competition for a roster spot.

Broyles has been activated for Sunday's game against the Jets. Broyles has been inactive for the Lions' first three games of this season, but will make his first appearance Sunday in light of tight end Joseph Fauria (ankle) being ruled out, thus resulting in Detroit requiring another pass-catcher on their roster.

Broyles is among the Lions' inactives for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Broyles was also inactive for Detroit's season opener on Monday. With fellow wideout Kevin Ogletree another inactive, the Lions figure to use Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross more on offensive.

Broyles is inactive for Monday's game against the Giants, the Lions' official site reports. As is fellow wideout Kevin Ogletree, with both players thus an injury or a break away from the fantasy radar.

Broyles will likely make the final roster, the Lions' official website reports. Broyles could perhaps get some playing time in three and four-wide sets, but he currently appears to be either fifth or sixth on the depth chart. A breakout candidates in previous years, Broyles is finally healthy, yet finds himself far removed from fantasy relevance.

Broyles played with the second-team offense in Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns, finishing with three receptions for 27 yards on three targets, the Detroit News reports. With Calvin Johnson held out, Kris Durham was used in two-wide sets, and Kevin Ogletree worked as the No. 3. Broyles seems to be either fifth or sixth in the wide receiver pecking order, but he could perhaps make a run at the No. 3 or 4 spots, as things seem to be fairly open behind Johnson and Golden Tate. Broyles suffered a ruptured Achilles' tendon in October, after suffering torn ACLs in 2011 and 2012.
