Aguayo has been waived by New England, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Aguayo was taken in second-round of the 2016 NFL Draft, as he was one of the most accurate college kickers in history. However, he ultimately struggled and made just 71 percent of his field-goal attempts during his rookie season. He has been looking for a second chance since, but has yet to find one.

The Patriots signed Aguayo to a reserve/future contract Monday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 2016 second-round pick was one of the most accurate college kickers in history, but he struggled immensely in his rookie season by making just 71 percent of field-goal attempts. The Patriots are aiming to be first in line if the 26-year-old can revitalize his career. Aguayo will be in the mix for the starting job if Nick Folk -- a 37-year-old who will be a free agent in March -- doesn't return in 2021.

Aguayo signed with New England's practice squad Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
New England's starting kicker, Nick Folk, was limited at Thursday's practice because of a back injury. The issue hasn't held him out yet this season, however. Aguayo will provide depth at kicker once he clears COVID-19 protocols. He's been out of the NFL for almost three full seasons after going 22-for-31 on field-goal tries during his rookie year. Tampa Bay acquired the prolific Florida State kicker as a second-round draft choice in 2016.

The Chargers waived Aguayo on Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Aguayo has lost out in his battle with fellow kicker Caleb Sturgis, marking his second failure to make a team since he was cut loose by the Buccaneers in August of 2017. The 2016 second-round pick will thus await calls for other organizations, but he may have entered the tryout realm at this point in his career.

Aguayo connected on the game-winning field goal during Thursday's 23-21 preseason win over the 49ers. He also made his other 36-yard field-goal attempt earlier in the contest.
EDGE Analysis
Aguayo was the first kicker to take the field Thursday, one game after seeing his competition, Caleb Sturgis, take the only extra-point attempt available during Week 3 of the preseason. Aguayo's game-winning attempt is a telling sign as to which way the Chargers might be leaning in what has otherwise been an air-tight battle for the starting job. If Aguayo does wind up winning the job, the former second-round pick immediately becomes an intriguing fantasy option given the explosive nature of the Chargers offense.

Aguayo did not see any kicking opportunities in the Chargers' preseason loss to the Saints on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Aguayo was thought to have had the upper leg in the kicking competition heading into the contest, but his absence Saturday puts a cloud over the situation. His adversary, Caleb Sturgis made his only extra point opportunity and put two his two kickoffs through the end zone. The Chargers may have just been given Sturgis one more look, but the competition is seemingly closer than it seemed previously at this point in time. We may have to wait until final roster cuts Saturday to see who wins the role.

Aguayo is "on his way to winning the Chargers' kicking job," according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
EDGE Analysis
Aguayo is still contending with Caleb Sturgis for the job, but assuming Schefter's prediction comes to fruition, it looks as though the 24-year-old will get another chance to flash the talent that led to the Buccaneers to surprisingly make him a second-round draft pick in 2016. Kicking behind a Philip Rivers-helmed offense that can generate a good deal of offense, Aguayo could merit fantasy consideration if he does indeed secure the Bolts' kicking job.

The Chargers have signed Aguayo to a future/reserve contract, ESPN's Eric D. Williams reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Buccaneers traded into the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft in order to select Aguayo, but his only season with the team did not go well, with the Florida State product missing nine of his 31 field-goal attempts. He'll look to re-boot his NFL career with the Chargers in 2018, but Aguayo will likely face competition on that front this spring/summer. Specifically, the team still has Nick Rose under contract and veteran Nick Novak could also be brought back for what figures to result in an open competition for the team's kicking job.

Aguayo was cut from the Panthers' practice squad Tuesday, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Aguayo was brought onto Carolina's practice squad in late October when Graham Gano was dealing with a knee issue. Gano never missed a contest because of the injury and hasn't missed a field goal since Week 5 so the Panthers decided to part ways with the former second-round pick. He'll now look to join his fourth different team this season.

The Panthers signed Aguayo to their practice squad Wednesday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Panthers are optimistic that Graham Gano (knee) will be able to handle kicking duties as usual Sunday against the Buccaneers, but just for insurance purposes, the team worked out a number of kickers earlier this week. Of the participants, Aguayo evidently stood out the most, so his appointment to the Panthers' practice squad suggests he would be the team's top choice to kick in Week 8 if Gano is unable to go. A 2016 second-round pick of the Buccaneers, Aguayo was waived by the team in August after failing to show much improvement following an erratic rookie season. He joined the Bears shortly thereafter, but was waived at the conclusion of training camp after losing the job battle to Connor Barth.
