The Packers and Cobb agreed to a restructure of his contract Wednesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
The status of Cobb likely was tied to Aaron Rodgers' decision, and once the latter opted to return and signed an extension, some maneuvering was required to get the Packers below the salary cap. According to Silverstein, Cobb's salary has been reduced from $8.5 million to $3 million for the upcoming season. Now that he's sticking in Green Bay for a 10th campaign, Cobb will look to build upon the 28-375-5 line he put together on 39 targets across 12 games in 2021.

Cobb was targeted 39 times and caught 28 passes for 375 yards and five touchdowns over 12 appearances in the 2021 season.
EDGE Analysis
Cobb rejoined the Packers in July after spending two seasons elsewhere, and he filled a rotational yet key role over the first 12 weeks of the campaign, finding the end zone more often than he did in any of the previous five seasons and averaging a respectable 13.4 yards per reception. However, a groin injury cost him the final six weeks of the regular season, and he was targeted only once in the Packers' divisional-round loss to the 49ers. He could stay with the Packers if quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains with Green Bay, but if Rodgers departs, Cobb presumably will as well.

The Packers activated Cobb (groin) from injured reserve Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Cobb underwent core muscle surgery during the Packers' Week 13 bye and missed the rest of the regular season. With the benefit of a first-round bye in the playoffs, his time away from the field will end at five games as he prepares for a return for Saturday's divisional-round matchup with the 49ers. Green Bay has listed Marquez Valdes-Scantling (back) as doubtful to play this weekend, so Cobb should jump back into three-wide sets with Davante Adams and Allen Lazard.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Cobb (groin) will be available for Saturday's divisional-round game against the 49ers, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cobb had surgery in early December and missed the final five weeks of the regular season, but he was a capable performer in a supporting role prior to suffering the injury, catching 28 of 39 targets for 375 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games. After opening the season as Green Bay's No. 4 receiver, he moved into something resembling a rotation with Marquez Valdes-Scantling (back) and Allen Lazard, all of whom played behind clear No. 1 option Davante Adams. It's hard to say how snaps will be divided between Cobb, MVS and Lazard this Saturday, but all four are seemingly on track to be available, with LaFleur giving Cobb the green light one day after Valdes-Scantling returned to practice. The Packers are expected to formally add Cobb to the 53-man roster by Friday.

Cobb (groin) will not play Sunday against the Lions, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Packers designated Cobb to return from injured reserve in late December, but he did not play in the team's Week 17 win over the Vikings and will not play this week, either, as head coach Matt LaFleur believes two more weeks of rest are in Cobb's best interest. Barring any setbacks, expect Cobb to be back on the field for the Packers' divisional-round game Jan. 22 or Jan. 23.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday that Cobb (groin) is "a little ways away from returning," implying that the wide receiver won't be activated from injured reserve in advance of Sunday's game against the Vikings, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
That being said, Cobb has made good progress in his recovery from the core-muscle surgery he underwent in the first week of December, as was made clear by the Packers' decision Thursday to clear him to resume practicing. Cobb looks like he'll need more practice time to prove he's back to 100 percent, but it's not out of the question for him to be added back to the 53-man roster ahead of the Jan. 9 regular-season finale versus the 2-12-1 Lions. If they can beat Minnesota this weekend, however, the Packers might be more inclined to wait until the postseason to activate Cobb; Green Bay would be in the driver's seat for the NFC's No. 1 overall seed with a Week 17 win and would be heavy favorites to beat the lowly Lions with or without the veteran slot man.

Cobb (core) returned to practice Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Packers thus have designated Cobb for return from injured reserve. The 11th-year wide receiver underwent core muscle surgery during the Packers' Week 13 bye, missing the past three games. He now has a 21-day window in which to prove his health, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to do enough to return to the active roster in time for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Cobb (groin) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
This was the next logical step for the Packers after Cobb underwent core muscle surgery last week that is expected to keep him out for a significant amount of time. This move will force Cobb to miss at least the next three weeks, at which point he will be able to return to practice for a 21-day window before the team must activate him back to the 53-man roster. The veteran wideout, whom the Packers traded a sixth-round pick to the Texans to acquire, suffered the injury in the team's Week 12 win over the Rams. Cobb is currently the team's third-leading receiver with 28 receptions and 375 receiving yards on 39 targets (also tied for third-most on the team). Cobb's absence should open up more opportunities for wide receivers Allen Lazard and Equanimeous St. Brown out of the slot.

Cobb underwent core muscle surgery last week with the hope he'll recover in time for the postseason, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cobb exited the Packers' last game Week 12 against the Rams with what was termed a groin issue. With the benefit of a bye, the Packers weren't required to disclose any details of the injury until this week, but coach Matt LaFleur touched on Cobb on Thursday, stating the veteran wide receiver "is going to be out for awhile. He had a pretty significant injury." Cobb seems poised to land on injured reserve in due time, but the team may wait to make the transaction official until he's well into his rehab, considering the 21-day practice window aspect once the team designates him for return.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that Cobb is "going to be out for a while" due to the core muscle injury he sustained in Green Bay's Week 12 win over the Rams, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even with the benefit of a Week 13 bye, Cobb doesn't seem to have made much progress in his recovery from what LaFleur termed as a "pretty significant" injury. Cobb hasn't resumed practicing and looks like he can safely be ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bears, and his status beyond Week 14 looks murky as well. However long Cobb is sidelined, more reps should be available for Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling alongside No. 1 wideout Davante Adams.
