Perkins has bounced around this year, making stops with the Giants, Lions and Jaguars, but he only suited up in four games with the Lions. He'll add necessary depth to the Ravens' backfield since Mark Ingram is working through a nagging calf injury.

The Jaguars signed Perkins to the practice squad Tuesday, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.

Perkins appeared in four games with the Lions earlier this season, racking up 29 yards on 12 carries while catching his only target for nine yards. He'll wait in the wings for a depth opportunity to open up in Jacksonville's backfield.

Perkins was waived by the Lions on Saturday.

This is now the third time Perkins has been waived by the Lions since the team picked him up off waivers from the Giants in mid-September. The 2016 fifth-round pick is certainly a candidate to rejoin the team at some point down the road, but considering the Lions signed Bo Scarbrough off the practice to replace Perkins, it's clear the team is looking for a different answer at the running back position.

Perkins carried seven times for nine yards while securing his only target for nine yards during Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Bears.

Ty Johnson (concussion) exited halfway through the first quarter, and Perkins ultimately saw his most carries since Week 4 of 2017. Not only did he fail to do much with his opportunities, but J.D. McKissic ultimately wound up with 70 percent of the offensive snaps while Perkins (15 snaps) barely saw more than Johnson did before leaving (12). It's possible Perkins could be more involved on early downs if Johnson is forced to miss any time, but it's looking like McKissic is the guy to own in the Detroit backfield in advance of the team's Week 11 game against Dallas.

Perkins carried three times for 16 yards during Sunday's 31-24 loss to Oakland.

Playing in his third game with the Lions this season, Perkins carried the ball on each of his three offensive snaps and did most of his work on his first touch that went for 13 yards out of a shotgun formation during the second quarter. However, both Ty Johnson (44 offensive snaps) and J.D. McKissic (27) saw far more playing time than the former Giants starter, so it's probably best to leave Perkins on the waiver wire.

It's yet another stint on the active roster for Perkins, although this one seems like an opportunity for the 2016 fifth-round pick to stick for an extended run, as the Lions placed nominal starting running back Tra Carson (hamstring) on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Both Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic figure to handle the bulk of the load this Sunday, but the duo was assumed the primary ball carriers last week, only for Carson to register 12 inefficient carries to a combined eight from Johnson and McKissic.

Perkins was cut by the Lions on Wednesday. Since being waived by the Giants in mid-September, he's bounced between Detroit's 53-man roster and practice squad. With Tra Carson nursing a hamstring issue, it's conceivable that Perkins could make his way back to the active roster in the near future.
