Free agent ILB Nick Barnett worked out for the Falcons. The Falcons are looking at veteran options to help replace Sean Weatherspoon, with Barnett and Tim Dobbins visiting earlier this week. Barnett appeared in 14 games with Washington last season before landing on I.R. with a torn MCL. Atlanta has also been linked to free agents Jonathan Vilma and Pat Angerer.

Redskins placed ILB Nick Barnett on injured reserve with a torn left MCL, ending his season. A longtime starter for the Bills and Packers, Barnett served as a reserve linebacker and special teamer this season. He should be ready for spring practice. Barnett was playing on a one-year deal, so he's headed back to the open market. He'll have to be 100 percent healthy before generating any interest in free agency.

Redskins ILB Nick Barnett tore his left MCL in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys, and has been ruled out for Week 17. A reserve, Barnett suffered the injury on special teams in the first quarter. He played just 70 snaps on defense this summer. An impending free agent, Barnett should likely be ready for spring practice.

Redskins signed ILB Nick Barnett, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year contract. Barnett, 32, has been in the D.C. area for the last two days visiting with the Redskins. He was released by the Bills in February with a "failed physical" designation, so the team wanted to make sure his knee was good to go. Barnett started all 16 games for Buffalo last season, grading out as a top-ten 4-3 outside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' end-of-the-year rankings. He'll provide depth behind starting inside 'backers London Fletcher and Perry Riley.

Free agent LB Nick Barnett will visit the Redskins. Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Barnett has "spent the last few months getting healthy." He had yet to make a visit since getting released with the "failed physical" designation by the Bills in February. Barnett started all 16 games last season.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, free agent Nick Barnett is "believed" to be on the Bears' radar. It's unclear if Chicago's interest died down after the D.J. Williams signing. Barnett, 32 in May, has experience at both middle and strong-side linebacker. The Bears tentatively expect Williams to replace Brian Urlacher in the middle, though his cheap contract suggests Williams is only lightly penciled in.

Nick Barnett's release from the Bills was officially listed as a failed physical on the league's transaction wire. Barnett has started all 16 games in each of the past two seasons, but he did miss 12 games in 2010 for the Packers due to a wrist issue. He underwent wrist surgery in October of 2010, but it hasn't been a problem since. Barnett also was limited in practices late in the 2012 season with a knee injury.

Bills released WLB Nick Barnett. The move clears Barnett's $3.5 million base salary off the books and frees up just over $3 million in cap room. Barnett turns 32 in May, but graded out as a top-ten 4-3 outside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' 2012 ratings and should have some gas left in the tank. He's also "scheme versatile," having played in both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes. We suspect Barnett will find a starting job in 2013.

Free agent ILB Nick Barnett is no longer scheduled to visit the Lions today. We've seen rumors that Barnett decided to cancel his flight to Detroit that was scheduled for Saturday night, and has instead stayed in Buffalo. He appears close to a deal with the Bills and would be an immediate starter there.
