ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bucs are in "serious discussions" with free agent DE Michael Johnson. This meshes with CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora's report from Monday that the Bucs are considered the "frontrunners" for Johnson. He's expected to command over $8 million per year. Johnson would slide in at right end in Tampa.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Bucs are the "frontrunners" for free agent DE Michael Johnson. This isn't the first time we've seen the Bucs connected to Johnson. Tampa Bay badly needs edge rushers, and Johnson would certainly fill the role. He's expected to command over $8 million annually and is our top free agent defensive end available. Johnson is equally efficient against the run.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikings are "definitely" out of the running for free agent DE Michael Johnson. GM Rick Spielman inked RE Everson Griffen to a five-year, $42.5 million deal over the weekend, and he'll slide in as the starter opposite LE Brian Robison. Johnson will still have a robust market without the Vikings' inclusion. After the Bears failed to sign DE Michael Bennett away from Seattle, they could turn to Johnson.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports free agent DE Michael Johnson is not expected to re-sign with the Bengals. That's been the expectation amongst the Cincinnati media for some time. The Bucs are reportedly making a "hard push" for Johnson's services, while the Bears will likely ramp up their pursuit after whiffing on Michael Bennett.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Buccaneers are making a "hard push" to sign free agent DE Michael Johnson. Johnson would be a big addition to the Bucs, bookending Adrian Clayborn in front of a secondary of Darrelle Revis, Johnthan Banks, Dashon Goldson and Mark Barron. Defensive end has been a major weakness in Tampa for years. New Bucs coach Lovie Smith and DC Leslie Frazier's defense is reliant on pressure from the front four. Johnson is an excellent rusher and run defender.

Philly Mag's Tim McManus reports free agent DE Michael Johnson-to-Eagles "isn't happening." McManus reported earlier Saturday that the Eagles were interested in Johnson. Once the legal tampering window opened at noon ET, McManus reports talks got "heavy" between Johnson and a "few teams." The Eagles weren't among those teams. Johnson is going to break the bank and will have a robust market.

Philly Mag: Birds 24/7's Tim McManus reports the Eagles are interested in free agent DE Michael Johnson. The Vikings are seen as the most likely landing spot for Johnson, but Philadelphia has cap room and needs a pass rusher. Free agent Mike Neal could be a more affordable option if Johnson's price proves too high. The Eagles only managed 37 sacks in 2013.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent DE Michael Johnson will be a "top target" for the Vikings. The Johnson-Vikings connection isn't a new one, but this is the first time we've really seen it in writing that the Vikings will actually pursue the pass rusher. At this stage of their respective careers, Johnson would qualify as a monster upgrade on free agent RE Jared Allen. Johnson is going to have plenty of suitors. With Greg Hardy off the market, Johnson's our top available 4-3 end.

The Cincinnati Enquirer's "gut" feeling is that free agent DE Michael Johnson lands in Minnesota. He'd be reuniting with ex-Bengals DC Mike Zimmer, who's now the Vikings' head coach. Defensive end is a big need in Minnesota with Jared Allen set to walk in free agency. In an ideal world, the Vikes would add Johnson, re-sign Everson Griffen, and place them in a three-man rotation along with LE Brian Robison.

USA Today's Tom Pelissero passes along Combine "buzz" that free agent DE Michael Johnson could head to the Vikings. The dots connect, as ex-Bengals DC Mike Zimmer is now the Vikings' head coach, and Minnesota is needy on the defensive line with Jared Allen a virtual lock to leave in free agency. Johnson just turned 27, and is a solid pass rusher with plus run-defending skills. Minnesota is $28.8 million under the cap.
