Giants placed WR Michael Clayton on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season. Clayton suffered a torn meniscus in practice on Saturday, and will undergo surgery Monday. Although the Giants have dealt with a number of receiver injuries this season, Clayton was active for just five games, and had yet to make a catch. Clayton has made just two catches since the end of the 2009 season. Now 29, his career is winding down.

Giants re-signed WR Michael Clayton. Clayton spent training camp with the Giants, only to be released at final cuts. No longer an effective receiver, Clayton's biggest impact will likely come on special teams.

Giants agreed to terms with WR Michael Clayton. Yes, this is the same Michael Clayton that starred for the Bucs as a rookie in 2004 and then bottomed out in the UFL last year. He did appear in six games for the Giants at the end of last season, catching two balls. We don't expect him to be more than a camp body, even if free agent Steve Smith (knee) isn't retained.

Free agent WR Michael Clayton insists he isn't done with his football career. The explosiveness evaporated from Clayton's legs about five years ago, but he thinks the Giants will re-sign him. "They really have a lot of respect for veteran players," said Clayton. "We (veterans) set the standard." The Giants might bring back Clayton as a camp body, but his time as an effective receiver is up.
