Kalil (knee) could be a cap casualty for the Panthers in the offseason, David Newton of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil spent the entire 2018 campaign on injured reserve and cutting him with a post-June 1 designation would clear roughly $8 million in cap space for Carolina. However, it would also leave $14.7 million in dead money on the table. It's possible the Panthers won't make a decision on this front until much later in the offseason.

Kalil (knee) is working on the side in practice Thursday and was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, David Newton of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil was originally placed on IR at the beginning of the season due to arthroscopic knee surgery and has not seen the field in 2018. The Panthers will now have three weeks to evaluate Kalil and decide whether they will active him when he is eligible following Week 8. If Kalil is activated, it's unclear whether he will assume his starting role at left tackle since Chris Clark has filled in admirably.

Kalil (knee) said Thursday that he could return to practice next week and play when he's first eligible in Week 9, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil added his knee feels strong since surgery and rehab has gone well so far. The former first-round pick was placed on injured reserve Sept. 2 after he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and has yet to see the field this season. It's unclear whether Kalil will assume a starting role on the offensive line when he's healthy, but in the meantime, it will continue to be Taylor Morton at right tackle and Chris Clark at left tackle.

Kalil is considered week-to-week after having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the Panthers' official website reports.
EDGE Analysis
Given the timing of his procedure, Carolina's starting left tackle is no lock to be ready for Week 1 against Dallas. The Panthers already lost standout left guard Andrew Norwell in free agency, then watched as RT Daryl Williams and LG Amini Silatolu -- both projected starters -- suffered major knee injuries early in training camp. Kalil and Silatolu should both be back at some point in September, while Williams is likely targeting a return during the second half of the season. All of this is a major concern for Cam Newton and the rest of the Carolina skill-position players.

Kalil missed the last two days of practice with a knee injury, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when this injury occurred, but it may have been during Friday's preseason game against the Dolphins. Kalil got torched by Dolphins' DE Robert Quinn in that game, but the Panthers are too battered on their offensive front to lose another body.

Kalil did not participate in Sunday's practice due to an undisclosed reason, Bill Voth of Panthers.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Panthers coach Ron Rivera wouldn't give details regarding Kalil's absence, but it could simply be related to a veteran's day of rest.

Kalil (illness) is good to go for Sunday's wild-card matchup with the Saints, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil will slot back into his right tackle position Sunday and look to slow down Saints' DE Cameron Jordan.

Kalil (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil missed Thursday's practice with an undisclosed illness but returned Friday and seems likely to suit up. If not, Tyler Larsen would presumably step in at center.

Kalil (illness) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is questionable to play in Sunday's playoff game against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil did not practice Thursday, so the fact that he was able to at least put in limited work Friday shows he is trending in the right direction. Expect the tackle to be a game-time call Sunday, but it seems likely that he'll be on the field in New Orleans.

Kalil (groin) practiced without limitations Wednesday and will play Thursday against the Eagles, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kalil was limited for practices earlier in the week, but it was likely just a cautionary measure.
